Chapter 27
“Alpha Miller, I told you yesterday that I don’t need your pack’s protection anymore,” I said, turning to leave.
My she–wolf bristled; the scent of his dominance still clung to the air, a lingering irritation.
“Go ahead! Even if you beg me to rejoin the Miller pack, I won’t allow it!” Jared roared, his voice echoing with raw emotion.
His wolf’s anger was palpable, a tangible wave of aggression.
But his rage didn’t intimidate me.
Instead, I ran faster, my heart pounding like a war drum, my own wolf urging me onward.
The full moon hung heavy in the sky, its influence a prickling tension on my skin.
“Jared, don’t be so rash.
Isabella has limited resources; how will she survive alone? She’s still family; you should try to reason with her…”
Emily’s voice cut through the night.
Jared watched helplessly as I joined Grayson, the scent of his musky alpha overpowering the air.
Grayson’s
powerful presence was a silent challenge, radiating confidence and control.
He leaned against the leather seat of his customized war–wagon, a smirk playing on his lips.
His long fingers tapped rhythmically on the control panel, his aura exuding a dangerous charm.
I greeted him with a smile, my eyes curved into crescents.
My she–wolf reveled in the warmth of his presence, a primal response to his powerful alpha scent.
He raised an eyebrow, a hint of undisguised indulgence in his eyes.
I hadn’t felt this carefree in a long time.
My she–wolf whimpered with happiness.
Wait a minute, why was that arrogant alpha flirting with his sister like that?
Jared’s wolf snarled.
Jared’s anger exploded.
He yelled, “She’s unwilling to support her family; I don’t want a sister like that!”
His words were a bitter howl, fueled by jealousy and wounded pride.
He was shouting for my benefit, but also for the witnessing pack members.
It wasn’t that he didn’t want me; it was that I didn’t want him*!
My she–wolf snarled back at the injustice of his accusation.
Emily tried to suppress a smile, whispering provocatively, “Jared, let’s bring Isabella back.

I lost my brother, so I consider you my brothers.
You’re still here, but Isabella acting like this…” Her voice held a sly undertone.
“She doesn’t care about you; why bother? Get in the war–wagon; let’s go home!”
Jared’s wolf was practically frothing at the mouth.
Jared was furious; and as soon as he spotted Grayson, he slammed the accelerator.
All the way, he weaved through the pack lands, trying to overtake Grayson’s war–wagon.

But just like in the past, whether it was territorial disputes or fights, he could never best Grayson; and now it was the same with speed!
Every time Grayson used his superior skills to pull ahead, he was always just a little faster.
No matter how hard Jared pressed down on the accelerator, he couldn’t catch up.
If he fell behind, Grayson would even slow down to let him catch up, taunting him!
It felt like a deliberate humiliation.
It was infuriating! Jared’s wolf growled with frustration and rage.
Emily gripped her seatbelt tightly. “Jared, I’m scared.” Her voice trembled.
He ignored her, his eyes locked on Grayson’s war–wagon.
Grayson’s war–wagon reached the Miller pack territory first.
Jared reluctantly stopped in front of the Miller pack’s entrance, his face flushed with anger as he pounded the control panel.
His wolf howled in defeat.
