Chapter339.
I couldn’t help but chuckle at Mason’s readiness to confront Grayson. My wolf snarled with amusement; the Miller brothers, even all five of them combined, couldn’t hope to stand against Grayson. Mason, the weakest of them, stood the least chance.
Mason’s face flushed crimson at my laughter, a mixture of embarrassment and fury contorting his features as he glared at me. His wolf was visibly wounded.
Emily, who’d been cowering behind Mason, saw the tide turning against them.
Her wolf snarled with anger, its frustration evident. Staying any longer would only deepen their humiliation. She reached out, gently tugging at Mason’s sleeve, feigning weakness, clutching her chest.
She was about to feign a collapse to force a retreat when my voice cut through the air.
“Oh, are you going to pretend to be unwell and leave now?” My wolf tasted the satisfaction of exposing her deception.
Emily’s body froze, her wolf momentarily paralyzed by the accuracy of my prediction. She managed to steady herself, her eyes blinking rapidly as she leaned towards Mason, attempting to appear faint.
“Are you going to pretend to faint and blame me?”
My wolf reveled in the crumbling facade of her carefully constructed charade.
My accurate prediction stopped Emily cold, leaving her embarrassed and exposed. Mason needed an escape; if Emily fainted, he could carry her away, but I’d destroyed that plan with a few well–chosen words.
His wolf felt a prickle of unease, a flicker of doubt, quickly extinguished by a surge
of
rage.
“Isabella, enough! Do you want Emily to die?! She’s not well, you know that! Forget it, you’re heartless; it’s useless to talk to you!” He barked the words, a desperate attempt to salvage some dignity, his wolf sputtering with indignation. Mason practically fled, scooping up Emily and striding out of the restaurant. But his
ed conviction.
The onlookers didn’t believe him; they saw through his false concern, his wolf’s desperation turning his words into a joke. Only villains uttered such unconvincing threats when defeated by a stronger alpha!
The crowd erupted in laughter, the sound a chorus of mockery.
The mocking laughter pierced through Mason’s ears, making his wolf flinch. He tightened his grip on Emily, his face darkening as he hurried out.
Emily, seemingly weak and leaning on him, dug her claws into his flesh, her hatred a palpable force. Her wolf seethed, making a mental note of this, vowing revenge. She would definitely return for me, one day.
