Chapter 406.
I stepped forward, a faint smile playing on my lips.
Before I let you have your way because I didn’t care.
It didn’t bother me. My gaze locked with Emily’s, a cold stare that sent an inexplicable chill through her.
My wolf felt the power thrumming within me.
A sarcastic smile touched my lips.
“Now? If someone takes something from me–whether I need it or not, whether I care or not–I’ll take it back.”
As I finished, Grayson’s ten bodyguards stood like silent, iron statues, radiating an intimidating aura.
They didn’t need words; one step forward was enough.
Their synchronized movements forced Emily and her pack to retreat involuntarily.
One step, two steps, some stumbled into the stream.
A timid makeup artist tugged on Emily’s sleeve, “Miss Carter, let’s give it back.”
Emily’s face paled.
She’d taken what she wanted, and now she was being forced out?
She didn’t want to, but the icy glare and the imposing presence of the bodyguards crushed her spirit.
She couldn’t match their strength.
She had to swallow her humiliation.
“Fine, we’ll give it back!”
Emily started to leave, but the bodyguards blocked their path.
The lead bodyguard said coldly, “What did you say? You’ll give it back? You were the ones who took Miss Miller’s spot!”
He turned to me, seeking approval.
I gave a slight nod.
He smiled, then resumed his stern expression.
The makeup artist burst into tears.
She knew they couldn’t win.
With resentment and fury, she led her pack in a disgraceful retreat, handing back our filming location.
Lucy waved a leaf triumphantly.
“With those obstacles gone, the air is much fresher!”
Emily glared at me, fists clenched.
Her wolf snarled, defeated.
Securing the location, I asked, ‘Where’s my brother?”
Mc Smith is in a meeting, he’ll be here tonight.”
I nodded and, with Grace and Lucy, led the pups back to the stream.
We didn’t set up our equipment.
We had already finished shooting that scene–we were simply playing with the pups.
Now, we re–immersed the roughly handled pelts in the clear water, carefully cleaning and playing with them.
We worked together, spreading the pelts open, the sunlight sparkling on the water.
My wolf felt a sense of calm satisfaction.
