Chapter408.
Emily lunged forward, planting a furious kick squarely in Noah’s stomach.
He didn’t see it coming, his body crumpling into a muddy puddle.
Dirt stained his fur, and decaying leaves clung to his face.
My she–wolf chuckled along with Lucy and Grace as we watched his ridiculous tumble.
Noah, his face burning with humiliation, scrambled from the muck, his limbs flailing wildly.
His pristine, newly–acquired outfit was now caked in grime, reeking of earth.
He tried to wipe it off, but his paws were coated in mud

a futile effort.
“Good–for–nothing!” Emily snarled, turning her back and striding away.
Noah silently shed his mud–caked attire, his head bowed low, his bangs obscuring eyes that flashed with a venomous resentment; a brief, almost imperceptible expression that was gone as quickly as it appeared.
My she–wolf sensed the shift, a flicker of something dangerous in his demeanor.
Emily, oblivious to Noah’s fleeting display of anger, marched on.
Each step felt as if the very earth itself was working against her, clinging to her paws, threatening to send her tumbling.
This place felt cursed.
After she left, I instructed Lucy and Grace to remain in the village and finish filming.
I, accompanied by Grayson’s guards, followed Emily’s pack.
Had I been too aggressive in vying for locations?
The pack’s hierarchy often played out this way.
After nearly an hour, Emily’s pack arrived at a marginally better village.
The village elder, his brow furrowed, greeted their return.
His sigh spoke volumes; he knew this spoiled Alpha wouldn’t last long under the village’s harsh conditions.
While her generosity provided some income, her volatile temper was unbearable.
Basic courtesy demanded a show of hospitality.
He led her to his dwelling.
Everyone moved cautiously, aiming to placate her.
Noah, having just insulted her, attempted a sycophantic approach.
“Miss Carter, I discovered a lovely stream on our way here–beautiful scenery, not inferior to what Grace’s pack found.
Shall we film there?”
Emily halted, her gaze fixated on him, her finger poking his forehead, making his head bob with each jab.

“I just finished shooting a stream scene, and now you suggest another? Are you addled? Just follow Grace’s pack’s lead!”
His face paled under her harsh words, yet he forced a strained smile.
“I didn’t think it through–I only wanted to please you!” He lightly slapped his own face, attempting to appear agreeable.
His wolf, however, raged silently, cursing her a thousand times.
She rolled her eyes, calling him incompetent, then punched her sore leg.
Instantly, Noah knelt to massage her leg.
“This is infuriating–it’s been an hour.
When will my comm–stone arrive?”
I contacted a runner.
Within half an hour, a replacement comm–stone was delivered.
Even a replacement comm–stone took time.
My she–wolf felt a mixture of annoyance and amusement.
