Chapter431.
Surprise flickered in my eyes.
Though Alpha Mother Smith died in a vehicle accident when I was young, I distinctly remember that and she had a strong bond.
my
uncle
Neighbors said they were a model couple, Alpha Grayson was an excellent student, and they were an enviable family.
I had no memory of my uncle and Alpha Mother having another daughter.
Alpha Father Smith didn’t seem like the type to have an affair.
A cold glint flashed in Grayson’s eyes, almost imperceptible.
“She’s a test–tube pup.
Her mother used underhanded methods to obtain… the genetic material my parents used, and then-” Grayson’s eyes were dark, his grip tight on the steering wheel, his voice filled with disgust.
‘Julia’s mother then took a paternity test between Julia and my father to provoke my mother.
My mother didn’t believe my father would betray her, so she took the report to confront
my
father.”
His voice dropped, heavy with pain.
‘On her way to see my father, my mother was in a vehicle accident.”
I already knew what happened after that.
But this was the first time I learned the truth about Alpha Mother Smith’s death.
I suddenly reached out and grasped Grayson’s paw.
Grayson’s face showed grief.
‘My mother was expecting a pup at the time, planning to tell
my
father.”
Grayson’s voice was almost inaudible.
“I always felt… she should have been a sister.” A sister he had always longed for.
After he said it, he realized what he’d said.
He turned to me, his eyes serious, a hint of panic in them.
“Isabella, I didn’t see you as a replacement.”
I reached out, gently covering Grayson’s clenched paw, looking at him earnestly.
“I know.”
Even if Alpha Grayson had truly seen me as a replacement, he could have forcefully taken me

How could I be a replacement for a pup who wasn’t even born? If he needed a substitute, couldn’t he find anyone else? And even if he did see me as a sister’s stand–in, the fact that he did so much for me made me willing to be
that stand–in.
Grayson’s tense muscles relaxed completely.
“Julia is just like her mother–ruthless and dangerous.
Stay away from her; be careful, she might harm you.”
I nodded vigorously, a smile on my lips.
“Yeah, I got it.”
Grayson continued driving.
“Is everything settled in Kyoto?”
“Yes.” He answered briefly.
I noticed his low spirits and pale lips, worried about his health.
I rubbed my belly.
“I’m a little hungry, Grayson.
Did you eat?”
He reached out and gently stroked my
hair.
“What do you want to eat? Where? In the vehicle, or at an establishment?”
I pulled out my communicator to check nearby establishments.
“There’s a porridge shop ahead.” It was a bit humble.
Before I could look for another option, Grayson had already parked the vehicle. We walked into the porridge shop, and I ordered some nourishing porridge. While waiting, I scrolled through my communicator, checking company news. My media company had taken advantage of the buzz to promote many new talents.
Each one was unique, directly surpassing Star Media.
I smiled with satisfaction.
By the time I was one, I’d heard Mom call Dad “honey” so often, it became the first word I ever learned. Every day, I’d cling to my childhood sweetheart, calling him “honey” right back. –
