Chapter464.
I lifted the hem of my icy blue gown and strolled into the brightly lit ballroom, packed with wolves.
The crystal chandeliers overhead were nearly blinding.
The air was thick with the scent of fermented berries and a cocktail of expensive pheromones; hushed
conversations buzzed around me. I couldn’t care less about the chaos outside.
Everyone wore the same polite, distant smiles, practiced and rehearsed.
I scanned the crowd, searching for Chloe Riley, heiress of the Riley Clan.
Just as I spotted her, a blast of angry energy swept past.
Julia, ignoring her two trailing companions, marched straight into the venue.
Her heels clicked sharply across the stone floor.
Though her makeup was flawless, the fire in her eyes was unmistakable.
She had a target, and she locked onto it faster than I did–a she–wolf in a champagne–colored gown not far away.
Chloe, a well–known figure in Columbia’s elite circles, looked cool, holding a glass of wine and chatting quietly, her expression polite but unapproachable.
Julia instantly switched on a smile and strode over.
“Chloe, long time no see.”
Chloe turned, a flicker of surprise in her eyes before she put on a courteous smile.
“Miss Smith.”
Julia acted like she didn’t catch the chill in her tone and slid right in next to her, getting straight to business.
“I hear the Riley Clan’s new energy project is looking for partners.
My family’s interested.
We can discuss terms–profit split, seventy–thirty, you get seventy.”
She spoke quickly and aggressively, like she was announcing a done deal, not negotiating.
Her wolf bristled, convinced Chloe wouldn’t refuse such a generous offer.
*She’d rather take a loss than let that she–wolf get what she wants!*
Chloe’s smile didn’t budge, but she didn’t respond.
That was when I calmly strolled over.
I saw them talking and didn’t rush–just stood quietly to the side, waiting for Julia to finish.

The icy blue dress shimmered under the lights, drawing a few glances my way.
Julia caught sight of me out of the corner of her eye, and her smile turned cold.
“This isn’t your place,” she hissed, her voice low but clearly intended for Chloe’s ears.
“Chloe already picked her partner tonight.
Isabella, you don’t stand a chance.
You should leave.”
I didn’t even flinch.
I wasn’t planning on talking to her just yet.
Arguing with a crazed she–wolf was pointless.
I could wait; even if Chloe and Julia reached a preliminary agreement, I had ways to win the Riley Clan over.
So I nodded politely at Chloe, a quick greeting, and turned to step aside.
“Miss Miller, please wait.” A clear voice called out to me.
It was Chloe.
Julia’s face twisted.
What did Chloe mean by this? Was she trying to play them off each other, see who’d offer the better deal?
I paused, turning back to Chloe, raising an eyebrow.
“Miss Riley, you know me?”
It wasn’t surprising that Chloe knew Grayson and Julia.
My own wolf felt a thrill of anticipation – this was better than I expected.
