Chapter 484
Bailing Alexander out meant coming up with three million Moonstones in damages, and I knew the Silvermoon Pack’s liquid treasury was stretched thin. My father would have a hell of a time raising that kind of wealth from the clan’s coffers.
That bastard!
Emily had tagged along too. She must have seen the bind Gavin was in, because that’s when she put on her most generous act. “Dad,” she’d said, “I still have a few ancient heirloom jewels. Let’s trade them to bail out Fifth Brother.”
Gavin always doted on Emily, and I knew that. Especially after I’d just humiliated her, shattering her collection of luxury furs, silken tunics, and an entire fortune in pack jewels. There was absolutely no way he’d let her sacrifice another thing.
He affectionately ruffled Emily’s hair, his Alpha scent softening with paternal warmth. “Don’t worry, just be my little Luna–princess. You don’t need to concern yourself with these things.”
Emily beamed, her scent turning sickeningly sweet. “You’re the best, Dad.”
But the moment Gavin turned away, a bitter resentment burned in my eyes. “The Silvermoon Pack’s little princess,” they called me. What a joke. The Miller lineage was practically an empty shell, broke and crumbling. If I’d had any other choice, I would have been gone from this territory years ago. She was already calculating, I knew, figuring out how to grab every scrap of power and resource she could for herself before this whole clan structure came crashing down.
scrap hand
I knew how tight Moonstones were for the family, so when Gavin finally handed over the compensation–those three million stones–it must have torn him apart. I imagined him grimacing through the legal scrolls, then standing stiffly by the entrance of the Enforcer Stronghold, waiting for Alexander to be released.
Alexander finally emerged. His face was already sporting fresh bruises from the Enforcers‘ rough handling, but his eyes, still sullen and defiant, burned with an arrogant, feral rage.
I watched as Gavin took one look at him, the frustration palpable as he practically burst out, “Can’t you ever make things easy Alexander, ever the defiant Alpha–blood, grumbled, “This is all my sister Isabella’s fault for turning her back on the pack!*
for me?!*
I could picture Gavin taking a deep, frustrated breath, his pheromones sharp with irritation. “The clan is in chaos as it is! Just behave yourself! And don’t you dare stir up trouble with Isabella right now!” he must have warned him.
I could almost see Alexander’s eyes flash gold, turning cold and vicious, sharp like a poisoned silver blade. He’d probably just scoffed impatiently, muttering, “Yeah, yeah.”
He must have given some dismissive reply before spinning on his heel and heading for his ostentatious black Race Rover, pulling open the door and sliding inside.
And naturally, Emily would have trailed after him, her face perfectly composed in a look of ‘just–right‘ concern as she softly reassured Gavin, “Don’t worry, Dad, I’ll go check on Alexander.”
With that, she followed Alexander into the Rover.
Watching their vehicle speed off toward the boundary, I knew Gavin’s unease must have deepened considerably. I could imagine him then pulling out his other Mental–Link Relay–the private one he kept for illicit pack business. He’d try to signal it, only to be met by a cold, relentless psychic silence. His brows would have furrowed tight, his face etched with unconcealed worry.
Meanwhile, at the Pack Logistics Hub…
I stood in front of a brand–new Race Rover. Its sleek lines flowed beautifully, making it look like a meticulously crafted work of art against the backdrop of the drab stone shipping containers. Only, the vehicle was painted a ridiculously flashy, attention–grabbing cherry blossom pink. It wasn’t my preference at all, but I knew exactly whose it was: Emily’s.
The irony wasn’t lost on me: that Rover, the very one Alexander had just totaled in a previous skirmish, was originally something he’d wrangled from Carson just to give to Emily.
I circled the Rover, my fingertips gliding lightly over its cool metal body. A rare, almost smug smile curved my lips. My wolf wagged her tail in my

mind, basking in the petty victory. As long as I could take something from Emily, nothing else mattered.
I turned to Grayson, who’d come with me, and grinned. “Come on, hop in. III take you for a spin through the forest.”
He watched me, and I saw a smile tugging at the corners of his lips, his Alpha scent visibly lightening as he mirrored my excitement. “Alright.”
Limmediately pulled open the door and slid into the driver’s seat. Grayson followed, settling into the passenger seat. Then he leaned over and buckled my harness. I pressed my lips together, feeling him lean in close, breathing in the cool, intoxicating scent of his Alpha pheromones–like cedar and storm clouds.
My gaze shifted to the interior. From the seats to the center console, everything in this Rover was entirely pink. I pressed my fingers against my temple. I couldn’t stand this aesthetic.
Seeing my pained expression, Grayson smiled. “Tomorrow, I’ll have the pack mechanics change the interior for you.”
My spirits lifted. “Thank you, Grayson.”
I started the engine–a low, mechanical growl that mimicked a beast–and drove onto the winding mountain road that bordered the Silvermoon territory. Once I’d gotten a feel for the handling, I picked up speed, reveling in the thrill of the chase, and my mood lifted with it.
But that good mood didn’t last long.
In my rearview mirror, a black Race Rover caught up, tailgating me aggressively. The driving was incredibly rude, a clear challenge to my status. My gaze hardened.
Confident in my skills, I tapped the gas, and the Rover instantly surged forward, carving a perfect arc through the next turn, determined to lose them But the black vehicle wasn’t shaken off. Instead, it accelerated like a maniac.
“Bang!”
A dull thud, and a violent jolt ripped through the rear of my Rover. They’d actually rammed me!
Grayson’s face instantly darkened, his Alpha aura flaring with a protective, lethal edge. His wolf was clearly snarling at the disrespect.
My reflexes were lightning–fast. I gripped the wheel, refusing to let the vehicle sway. Immediately, I floored it again. My pink Rover shot forward like an arrow, gaining a little distance. The impact had brought our vehicles dangerously close. As we brushed past each other, I peered through my window and clearly saw the two wolves inside their vehicle–Alexander and Emily.
My gaze turned to ice. I wasn’t holding back anymore. I used a tight S–curve to instantly open up the distance between us.
“Ah-!”
I saw Emily, in the black Race Rover, being thrown violently from side to side, her screams cutting through the air. “Alexander! You’re insane! Stop!” But Alexander acted like he hadn’t heard a word. His eyes were locked on the blinding pink of my vehicle ahead, burning with pure, feral fire. He wanted to wreck my Rover. He wanted me to taste what it felt like to lose control, to be a stray without a path.
“Hold on!” he ground out through clenched teeth, then slammed the accelerator to the floor again!
The engine shrieked with an overloaded roar, and his vehicle, like a beast unleashed, lunged after me once more. He was determined to teach me a lesson today.
His relentless pursuit sent a shiver down my spine. I could sense an even darker, more twisted thought festering in his mind through the local psychic spill. The terrifying realization hit me: he might find it “not so bad” to die on this mountain road, dragging me down with him into the abyss.
Our two Rovers were locked in a desperate, deadly chase along the winding mountain ridge. It didn’t take long for me to sense Alexander’s growing frustration, a realization dawning on him that something wasn’t right. He hadn’t expected my driving skills to be this sharp. No matter how aggressively he pushed, or how dangerously he cut the corners, I easily navigated my pink Rover, always maintaining a maddeningly consistent distance between us.
It was like I was just toying with him, an Alpha asserting dominance over a lesser male.
That thought must have been the match that incinerated Alexander’s last shred of sanity. I could see him go absolutely feral, his eyes bloodshot and glowing gold, mashing the accelerator with every ounce of his strength, his body practically glued to the wheel.
“Alexander! We’re going to crash! Brake, now!” Emily was absolutely terrified by his suicidal speed, screaming, her hands gripping her harness for dear
life.

Alexander, however, seemed to hear nothing. In his world, all that existed was my pink Rover, directly bad. I knew we were rapidly appe
eries of sharp, winding turns overlooking the canyon. This was his best opportunity, I realized.
ust then, I flicked my taillights twice a mocking signal. Then, with an unbelievable angle, I practically drifted into the mars. My speed didalt krog ern

saw it happen in a terrifying flash–Alexander’s eyes widening, the desperate jerk of his wheel–but it was already too late. His vehicle, blaring way too ast, instantly lost traction on the curve.
The tires shrieked, a gut–wrenching sound that sliced through the mountain air. I watched, horrified, as his Rover span violently, skidding incontrollably towards the cliff edge.
Ah-
Emily’s shriek warped, tearing through the quiet, becoming a sound beyond a she–wolfs voice, twisted into pure terror. I stated, tranfixed, as the ront of his vehicle veered, inches from tearing through the guardrail and plummeting down the sheer drop
Then, in the absolute last second, I saw Alexander yank the wheel with desperate force. The vehicle brutally changed course, veering away from the liff, only to slam hard into the unforgiving stone wall on the inner side of the road.
He’d sacrificed his own side, opting to take the full force of the impact himself to save his passenger. But in the split–second before the metal crunched gainst the rock face…
Emily, the girl he’d always guarded, the sister he’d always placed above all else, did something I could never have imagined, something I knew he would never have expected.
She lowered her head, not bracing herself, but shrinking her entire body, pressing herself against his side. She wanted to use his Alpha–thick body as her shield! A living, breathing shield.
CRASH!
A deafening roar, accompanied by the sickening screech of twisting, tearing metal, echoed through the valley.
