he comments section under the trending topic on the Howlnet absolutely blew up.
loly hell! Late–night pheromone spike, my heart rate is through the roof!
eriously, Isabella is stunning! Her side profile is just breathtaking–a true Luna in the making!
What kind of fated–mate romance is this?! That kiss is beyond swoon–worthy! I’m officially bonding them, and I’m hardcore!
orget everything else, just based on their rank and that whole vibe, I declare them blood–bonded on the spot!
ahaha, am I the only one who thinks it’s a little… off… that someone managed to snap a photo, considering the Alpha’s protective nature?
have a strong suspicion the Alpha arranged this himself. A public marking, perhaps?
eliberately taken? Was it their first kiss since the bond then?
eriously, showing off this much, torturing your pack–fans, Alpha? And yet, we’re still obsessed!
knew Grayson was probably online right then, scrolling through the howls himself, a triumphant smile on his face. This felt just like him–a carefully rchestrated move to claim me in the eyes of every pack in the territory.
heard later from the mental link that his Beta assistant had called him, frantic. “Grayson, shouldn’t we scrub the Howlnet of this hot search right
way?”
nd his response had been so typical of an Alpha, calm and utterly in control: “Let it fly for a while.”
hit me then: he’d done this on purpose. This was his moment of marking, and he clearly wanted everyone to witness that I belonged to his lineage.
ven though he didn’t seem to care about the public attention himself, I knew he was worried I’d be shy, that I wouldn’t want all this extra scrutiny om the pack elders.
ut then, I also realized how much he loved the idea of the whole world knowing I was his fated mate. That feeling, for him, was truly intoxicating.
e practically declared it with a silent, triumphant, “Yes!”
noticed the trending topic had been plastered across the top of every feed for a good half hour, dominating the pack discussions. But just as the buzz ached its absolute peak, it vanished without a trace, as if it had never even existed. It was gone, just like that.
he pack was still reeling, still trying to process what had just happened, when I realized the official portal of the entertainment clan that had leaked the ory suddenly went dark. The spiritual servers couldn’t even load it.
he online chatter was instantaneous, a collective gasp followed by a wave of comments. ‘Only Grayson could pull something like that off, people rote. Unbelievable Alpha power.
could only imagine the scene back at the Miller family den.
pictured Andrew there, eyes probably glued to his communicator, staring at that glaring photo of Grayson and me. I could almost hear the torrent of ell–wishes from strangers, words that would only fuel his rage. His face, I knew, would be dark enough to curdle a pup’s milk, practically dripping ith the scent of bitter fury.
knew Julia, by his side, would have been absolutely enraged, probably having already shattered her communicator in a fit of pure, unhinged fury.
could almost hear her shrill voice, wild with jealousy, screaming my name. “Isabella Miller! Always Isabella Miller! Why het? Why does she get his Jpha devotion? Her eyes, I imagined, would be burning with an almost insane malice, her wolf scratching at the surface.
andrew, of course, would have paid her no mind, completely ignoring her meltdown.
lis focus, I was certain, would be fixated on my face in that photo, a faint smile playing on my lips. And the gnawing resentment and bitter jealousy I new festered within him would be consuming his wolf whole.
But even as he sat there, a chilling undercurrent pulsed in the air, radiating from him. I could almost hear the venomous whisper of his thoughts, bitter esentment that seemed to poison the very air around the den. Why should Grayson have everything–the tank, the territory, the mate–while he was orced into a life he despised? Made to mate with a ‘mad she–wolf and endure the humiliation of being a low–rank son–in–law in al erritory?

Mera
The hatred in him was palpable, a burning desire for retribution against the hierarchy.
He had to get his revenge. He had to drag Grayson down, pull him from his Alpha pedestal.
And I knew, with a dreadful certainty, that he saw me as the key. Grayson cares about Isabella the most, doesn’t he?
The thought, though unspoken, was clear in his predatory gaze. So, he would make his move through me.
A cold, calculating glint flashed in Andrew’s eyes.
Confronting Isabella directly was too risky. Grayson kept her too well–guarded, like a treasure in a mountain vault.
But targeting someone close to her? That would be far simpler for a scavenger like him.
He picked up his device, dialing a contact within the lower ranks.
“I need you to find out who Isabella is closest to, who she cares about most–excluding the Grant and Smith clans.”
Within moments, the information was delivered via the Howlnet.
Andrew stared at the profile of the assistant named Faye on his screen, a cruel, cold smile twisting his lips.
He’d heard that I cared deeply for this young she–wolf.
The next day, I arrived at Fire–Blood Apothecary.
I went through a few files regarding the Blood–Core healing, and instinctively reached to mind–link my assistant, only to realize the office was eerily quiet today. The usual scent of her calm, Beta presence was missing.
“Where’s Faye?” I asked a passing pack member.
“Faye didn’t look too good,” the employee replied, bowing slightly. “She just stepped over there to make a call to her family den.”
A slight frown creased my brow. Nala, my wolf, gave a restless whine of concern.
I thought for a moment, then told the employee, “Have her come to my office the moment she returns.”
A short while later, a soft knock sounded at my office door.
‘Come in.
Faye walked in, her head bowed, her shoulders slumped. The office door closed behind her with barely a whisper.
‘Ms. Miller, you asked for me?”
Her voice was muffled, thick with a heavy nasal tone, devoid of its usual brightness.
I was looking at a file, but at the sound of her voice, I lifted my head. The instant my eyes met Faye’s, the pen in my hand froze.
I noticed Faye’s eyes were red, her lids a little puffy, and her face completely drained of color. The scent of salt and grief was heavy on her.
One look at her, and I knew she’d been somewhere, tucked away in a corner, crying her heart out.
Grayson had assigned Faye to me, and she’d always been incredibly loyal, looking out for me not just now, but for what felt like forever. In my heart, I hadn’t thought of this she–wolf, who was only a few years my senior, as merely an assistant for a long time.
She was a friend, yes, but even more, she was like an older sister to me.
Seeing her so utterly distraught, my own heart plummeted, and Nala bared her teeth in a protective snarl
I set my pen down and leaned forward, my voice hardening with Alpha–born concern. “What’s wrong? What happened to your eyes? Who dared to upset a member of my circle like this?”
Faye had been trying so hard to hold it together, but my words, laced with undeniable concern and the weight of my status, were like a needle, instantly piercing through the brittle shell she’d built around herself
The tears she’d been holding back for what felt like an eternity suddenly burst forth, streaming down her face, utterly beyond her control “Isabella…” When she spoke, her throat was tight, choked with emotion, the words catching before she could string a full sentence together

My heart lurched. I immediately stood up from my chair and walked over to her.
I pulled a few tissues from the box and handed them to Faye, my hand gently rubbing her back to soothe her wolf.
“No rush, I murmured. Take your time. What’s wrong?”
My voice was steady, carrying a calming power that I hoped would reach her inner wolf.
Bolstered by my steady presence, Faye’s sobs lessened slightly, and she haltingly recounted what had happened.
Three years prior, her father had died in a tragic hunting accident.
It was just her mother, Irene, and her left at home in their small den.

The party responsible for the accident had paid out a blood–tribute settlement, and with the pack insurance marks, it was actually a pretty substantial
um of silver.
My blood ran cold as she explained, but then her grandmother and her uncle’s family showed up, demanding those silver–marks, and even their ancestral den.
Faye’s mom, Irene, naturally disagreed, but according to the Ancient Wolf Covenant, Faye’s grandmother was indeed the first–line heir, entitled to a share of the inheritance if the male head of the household fell.
So, after some negotiation with the Pack Council, Irene gave the old woman all two million silver–marks of the compensation. In return, they kept the old, not–very–valuable den they were living in.
That house was filled with the scents and memories of their little family–memories that no amount of silver could ever buy back.
Who could have imagined that old territory would recently be designated a prime development zone by the High Council? They were even planning to build a prestigious training academy for high–rank pups nearby. Suddenly, the den became prime real estate in a top–tier territory, and property values went through the roof.
Now, her greedy grandmother and uncle were back, scratching at their door again, demanding the house for themselves.
They said, Your dad’s gone, and your mom’s an outsider from another pack; she has no right to occupy the Grayson lineage’s den. And you? You’re just a she–wolf, a pup who will be mated off eventually anyway. You have even less right to that territory.”
My mom refused, so they started coming to our den every day, making a scene, howling for the neighbors to hear. I called the pack enforcers, and they left, but as soon as the guards were gone, they ambushed us in the woods below, ready to fight. My mom shielded me, and her arm got fractured in the scuffle. She’s still in the healers‘ wing…”
As she said this, her tears broke free again,
Faye was sobbing, gasping for breath, her story choked with the agony of a broken family bond.
My expression hardened, a chill spreading through me with each word. Nala was pacing furiously now, her claws metaphorically digging into the floor of my mind. This was a violation of the protection I owed my people.
In my past life, even though my mind had been completely consumed by the Miller brothers, I hadn’t paid much attention to the people and events around me.
But Faye was one of the few friends who still cared about me, who supported me. There was no way I wouldn’t have noticed her struggling with such a major crisis in my previous existence!
A thought flashed through my mind, and my eyes narrowed, a dark realization dawning
This hadn’t happened in my past life, but it was happening now. Someone was deliberately stirring the shadows behind this!
Faye’s life path hadn’t really changed, but I had!
A lethal fury flashed in my eyes, and Nala let out a low, terrifying growl. Someone had hurt Faye–had struck at a defenseless she–wolf–just to get la me! This was a challenge to my rank, and I would answer it with fire
