Chapter 571.
Mywad made Wendy’s head snap towards me, her eyes narrowing as she tried to gauge the scene of
my sincerity. 1s ced with a low growl at the back of my mind, sensing the sudden surge of predatory opportunism in the shelf before
“What did
you way” she demanded.
1 said, you need five hundred million pack–credits, and I’ll give it to you. All I ask is that you stop harassing Caleb.”
Wendy’s eyes lit up, and I instantly knew what she was thinking: I must have a soft spot for the Alpha–heir I could practically smell the gears turning in her head, her pheromones shifting into something oily and manipulative–she was wondering if she could ask for men
more.
The thought sent a greedy tremor through her, and I could almost feel her heart leap. For a split second, I saw her almost blurt our. billion!
But then, her base survival instinct kicked in. I knew she’d prioritize getting the five hundred million in hand first before the Pack Council could freeze any more of her connections.
“Hmph! You only talk about having Grant blood, but can you actually bleed for them?
I didn’t explain. Instead, I reached into my bag, pulled out a black soul–stone card–the key to my personal sovereignty funds and held it out to Wendy.
“It’s just five hundred million,” I said, my voice probably colder than I intended, vibrating with the authority of my own Alpha status. “Nothing is worth more than Caleb.”
From the office, Caleb must have heard the commotion through the mind–link range, because he was suddenly standing in the doorway. He stared at me, his eyes wide with shock, a clear question in their depths as if asking why. I knew his wolf was probably howling in confusion at the sacrifice I was making for him.
Wendy, too, looked completely stunned. Her eyes zeroed in on the black card in my hand, and then a slow, calculating smile spread across her face. It was a smile that practically screamed: Isabella really cares about the Grant family. I can definitely milk her for more
tokens later.
But not today, I could almost hear her thinking. Today, I’ll take what I can get.
Wendy snatched the card, her fingers closing greedily around it like claws.“This was always the Grant family’s,” she declared, and now
it’s mine!”
I watched her, my gaze unwavering, my expression giving nothing away to her scent–tracking.
“The PIN is six eights.”
Wendy scoffed, a smug sound that grated against my ears, before slipping the card proudly into her bag and turning on her heel to leave. Wendy was lost in her triumph, completely missing the cold, mocking smile that flicked across my lips the moment I turned away. Nor did she see the elaborate, inescapable trap I’d meticulously laid for her and Susan–a trap designed for their utter ruin under the Ancient Wolf Covenant.
In my past life, Wendy had used a piece of wasteland to build a hotel, dragging the Grant Pack and my uncle to their ruin. This time, I would make Wendy watch with her own eyes as that very wasteland became the foundation of her and Susan’s hopes, only to come crashing down, shattering their beautiful dreams into a million pieces.
And Andrew? He was anything but a good man; he was a rogue in an Alpha’s skin.

Chapter 5/1
The moment Wendy got her hands on the credits, she immediately transferred them to Andrew. With the funds secured, Andrew wasted no time preparing the pup–charity project. Barely three days later, the desolate lot on the west side of the territory was swarming with heavy construction machinery,
Bulldozers reared, leveling the jagged earth, and then a massive cornerstone, draped in crimson pack–fabric, was erected. It gleamed with gilded letters “Lola Sanctuary for Parentless Pups”
The stage was set for a massive territorial groundbreaking ceremony, ready to kick off. Between Andrew’s backing and the inherent appeal of helping the pups–what a perfect gimmick for the pack elders–it drew in almost every major Howlnet outlet in the LA Territory.
But the real star of the show today, I knew, was Lola. When she arrived, draped in a white gown and sporting that perfectly delicate, tear–streaked‘ makeup designed to make her look fragile, every single Howlnet sensor immediately swung her way. She was, naturally, the face of the entire project,
Wendy sat in the front row, watching her daughter bask in the territory–wide attention. Her eyes were bright, brimming with tears of overwhelming pride. The look on her face screamed that this was exactly where her Lola belonged–the absolute center of the pack’s world.
Andrew, representing the collaborating party, rattled off a few boilerplate remarks, then swiftly handed the stage over to Lola Lola walked to the microphone, bowing deeply to the gathered wolves. When she lifted her head again, tears were already streaming down her face, smelling of false salt and peppermint to mask her true scent,
“Hello everyone, I’m Lola.”
Her voice, laced with just the right amount of a sob and a tremor, filled the air, broadcasted across the mind–links of thousands. “Before I say anything else, I want to apologize to everyone I’ve hurt.”
“Especially… to my cousin, Isabella Miller,”
As she spoke my name, her voice was heavy with what sounded like remorse. “In the past, I was blinded by jealousy and obsession, and I did so many unforgivable things. During my time in the healers‘ ward, I did a lot of soul–searching.”
“I realized how fragile life is, and I wasted my time on pointless hatred.”
Her tears fell in an unbroken stream, tracing paths down her cheeks and dripping onto the pristine white fabric of her skirt, spreading into small, dark stains. The Howlnet reporters in the audience were a frenzy of clicking shutters.
“When I saw those pups, those who were homeless due to rogue violence or abandoned by their parents, that’s when I truly realized how trivial my own suffering was.”
“So, I begged my mother to help me establish this sanctuary.”
“I hope to spend the rest of my life atoning for my mistakes. I hope to provide a small sanctuary for those poor pups.”
She bowed deeply again, her voice hoarse and sounding utterly sincere. “I hope everyone can give me a chance to redeem myself.”
Her tear–soaked speech, it was a masterpiece of pheromonal manipulation. She’d apologized, played the victim, and positioned herself on the moral high ground all at once. The reporters in the room were clearly moved; the Q&A session became noticeably softer. From the audience, Wendy dabbed at her tears with a silk handkerchief, her chest visibly swelling with pride.
I could practically feel her thinking, See? That’s my daughter! Even after a fall in rank, she knew how to rise again in the most dazzling, most picture–perfect way,
The groundbreaking ceremony, streamed live on the Howlnet, instantly blew up across every corner of the territory’s telepathic.

network.
OMG, I’m actually a little choked up…
Admitting your mistakes and making amends? That’s huge for a she–wolf. And it’s for the pups! Gotta support that.
Yeah, she used to be such a pain, but for this sanctuary? I forgive her.
Our sweet, angelic Miss Lola is back! I knew she was good deep down!
Haters, get out! Our Lola was just led astray by toxic rogues!
I watched as public opinion, with dizzying speed, performed a complete 180. All the previous curses and venomous scorn from the pack were washed away by a sudden flood of sympathy, forgiveness, and praise.

#LolaPupSanctuary
Her name was plastered all over the Howlnet trending topics, dominating the feeds. The comments section was a sea of unanimous praise.
The ‘bang‘ of the heavy transport door closing behind me cut off all the noise from outside. I watched as the meticulously crafted sadness on Lola’s face vanished instantly, her eyes turning cold and predatory.
She impatiently tore off the bothersome skirt hem, the white fabric stretching and deforming as her frustration bubbled over. Then she pulled out her communicator, the screen’s light casting an eerie glow on her expressionless face. As she scrolled through the praises online, her lips slowly curved upward, revealing a sneer.
“Mom, did you see it?”
She waved the screen in front of Wendy.“They’re all such idiots. A few tears, a few soft words, and the whole pack believes anything.” Wendy handed her a cup of warm water, her eyes brimming with pride.“My Lola is just so clever.”
“About the construction team, I’ve got it all sorted, darling. They’re all our people. Even if they cut a few corners on the silver–shielding and materials, it’ll be fine.”
the dens Lola took the cup and sipped the water.“Mom, what are you even thinking? Just cut a few corners. How else are we going to get built fast and make money? You seriously expect us to spend five hundred million credits on some fancy, grand house? For the rebar and cement, pick the cheapest, shittiest stuff. Don’t miss a single chance to save a token.”
Wendy paused, a flicker of uncertainty in her eyes. “But… pups are going to live there. What if something goes wrong…?” Lola cut her off, not even sparing her a glance, her wolf’s cruelty shining through her gaze.“What could possibly go wrong?”
“A bunch of unwanted rogue–born trash. They should be grateful to just have a roof over their heads. What makes them think they deserve a high–rank den? And if they die, so what? Who’s going to stand up for a bunch of unclaimed runts?”
