Five Alphas Kneel for Me (Isabella) novel Chapter 589

Chapter 589.

The Miller line of the Silvermoon Pack was in turmoil.

I found Andrew on the carved stone couch in our family den, his face a thundercloud as he chainsmoked potent wolfweed. The ashtray was a graveyard of discarded filters, and he was practically drowning in a haze of acrid smoke that made my wolf, Lyra, sneeze in the back of my mind.

Even though Andrew had managed to swindle a hefty sum of Lunar Crystals from Wendy earlier and sold off some unproductive hunting grounds, recouping some of our pack lossesthe Miller family’s standing in the Silvermoon hierarchy hadn’t truly improved.

Just then, the heavy oak door creaked open, and Emily walked in, carrying a bowl of revitalizing ginseng soup.

Andrew looked at her, a subtle chill in his Alpha eyes. This was his own blood sister, the Beta he had always so carefully protected and cherished within the pack.

My inner senses scanned the interior, landing on Andrew. He was hunched over his packtransmitter, his jaw tight. A palpable tension radiated off himthe scent of stressed Alpha pheromonesand it was obvious he was in a foul mood. Given the circumstances, I had a pretty good idea why. I could practically see the wheels turning in his head, a silent acknowledgment of the chaos my absence from the Miller line had undoubtedly caused. His grim expression told me everything I needed to know about his current regrets.

In fact, his face twisted even further at whatever thoughts churned in his head.

Emily, seeing the fury etched across his features, flinched, her Beta instincts momentarily making her submissive. She looked like she wanted to bolt back into the hallway, but then she bit her lip, forced a sweet, docile smile onto her face, and walked toward him.

Brother, maybe drink something first, she cooed, her scent trying to project calmness.Your health is important to the pack.

I watched her place the ginseng soup in front of him, her voice gentle and soothing. There will always be a way,she murmured.

Andrew’s eyes, already tight with the stress of the Miller family’s waning influence, hardened even further when he saw her. He waved her off,

in his voice. It’s easy for you to say,he snapped. You don’t understand a thing about pack politics.

structed gentle smile faltered, her lips tightening almost imperceptibly. I caught the brief, sharp flash of humiliation and esher wolf baring its teeth in the shadows of her mindbefore she quickly veiled it, plastering the sweetness back on her face.

gaze, biting her lip in a show of distress.Brother, she murmured, her voice laced with feigned guilt, I know our Alchemical Den is ulties, and I really want to help out the family

w exactly could you help out?

I could almost hear Andrew’s dismissive scoff, the sarcasm dripping from his voice like venom. Can you get the Pack Elder Council to agree to an extension on our resource debts?I imagined him snapping.Or pull in hundreds of millions in Lunar Crystals to keep the Miller family afloat?

And I knew, with a bitter twist in my gut, that those were exactly the things I could have handled without breaking a sweat. I figured he must be regretting it, trulyregretting that he had cast aside his fatedmatebonded sister.

But then, I knew how it went. The moment he’d see Emily’s face turn pale, her hands clutching at her skirt, looking utterly helpless after he’d backed her into a corner, his Alpha resolve would inevitably crumble. That’s just how he was with her.

You’re not good at these things,I imagined him saying, his tone softening as his protective instincts kicked in. It’s not your fault. Youjust try to spend a little less of our pack resources, okay?

I could picture Emily’s hands tightening their grip on her skirt, a familiar gesture. I knew that ever since she’d been formally recognized as part of the Miller bloodline, their finances had been tight. Her allowance, I bet, was even less than what she got when she was just a foster pup in our house.

And I knew Andrew’s constant refrain to her: that her reputation in the Silvermoon Pack was in tatters after the last mooncycle’s scandals, so she shouldn’t be going out to the neutral territories for a while. If she wasn’t leaving the den anyway, she might as well spend less wealth.

And now, he was still harping on her to cut down on spending! I could practically feel her simmering resentment, a sharp, metallic scent in the air.

I knew it. Andrew was already regretting losing my skills.

Emily took a deep breath, like she was steeling her wolf, then lifted her head, her gaze fixed intently on Andrew.

Andrew, she said, her voice dropping to an almost conspiratorial whisper, I actually have a way to bring the Miller family back from the brink of exile. Would yoube willing to hear it?

Her voice was tinged with a delicate fragility, the kind that was meant to pull at his heartstrings.

Andrew’s eyes narrowed, a clear flicker of Alpha suspicion in his gaze as he looked at Emily. It wasn’t surprising he looked at her that way. After all, she’d gotten involved with Old Fourth’sterritory competition, and he’d utterly lost. Then she’d endorsed Old Fifth, and his Alchemical Den had gone bellyup

I remembered how she and our third brother tried to launch a cosmeticshifting venture, and it ended up costing the Miller family a fortune in raw essence. Honestly, nothing she ever got involved with went smoothly.

I watched as Emily caught the suspicion in Andrew’s eyes, and I could almost see her flinch, her composure faltering. I could tell by the tight line of her lips that she probably wished she could access the Miller family’s remaining resources herself and just launch whatever project she had in mind. Why bother partnering with Andrew, when she could do it all on her own?

I could practically see the contempt in her eyes, as if she felt Andrew, her actual full brother, was even less competent than our other halfbrothers in the Silvermoon Pack

But she was good at hiding her true feelings. Pretending not to notice the distrust in his eyes, she took out a small Spirit Crystal and placed it on the

stone table.

Andrew, you know how hot Isabella is on the Howlnet right now.

I watched Emily stare intently into Andrew’s eyes. You’ve heard the rumors, haven’t you? The High Luna of Redmoon was suffering from an incurable bloodcore disease, something even the world’s top Alchemists couldn’t touch. But she was ultimately cured by a mysterious Healer, codenamed S. And that Healer used LunarEssence MicroSpirits.

Andrew’s brows furrowed even deeper. What does that have to do with us?

He’d definitely heard about it. Everyone had. The death of a bloodcore was a universal fear among our kind, and that whole incident had instantly made me the international figure every pack wanted to court, and no Alpha dared to cross.

Emily’s tone suddenly shifted, her voice rising with an almost frantic edge. Her eyes blazed with a wild, hungry lighta dangerous mix of jealousy and greed that made my wolf growl.

Everyone’s praising her,she practically hissed, because they believe it’s my unique technology, proof of my genius! But what if we had that technology for the Miller line?

Andrew’s eyes snapped wide. He stared down at the Spirit Crystal on the table, then slowly lifted his gaze back to Emily, a look of pure disbelief etched

on his face.

Emily’s lips curved into a smug smile, and she nodded emphatically. When I took over the Fire Alchemical Den,she practically purred, I knew you weren’t loyal to us. So, I made sure to copy the original design imprints from your terminal beforehand! This Spirit Crystal contains the most crucial, the most fundamental data for the MicroSpirits!

As she finished speaking, I watched Andrew shoot to his feet, his eyes wide with disbelief as he stared at Emily, his breath suddenly quickening with Alpha greed.
