Chapter 595.
After Emily finished meticulously placing her surveillance devices, obviously aiming for a full 360–degree, absolutely pristine shot of me.
Only then did she pull out her communication stone, her face morphing back into that sickening blend of triumphant smugness and feigned urgency, to send a mental pulse to me.
[Why aren’t you here yet? Don’t you want your mother’s things? If you don’t show up soon, I’m throwing them out!]
Meanwhile, back in the dimly lit monitoring room,
I picked up the steaming decoction the security guard had just delivered, taking a slow, deliberate sip. The bitter herbs grounded my wolf.
I glanced at my stone, then back at the monitor where Emily’s face was twisted with jealousy and malice. The curve of my lips grew even colder, my canine teeth elongating slightly.
Confirming that the “big surprise” I had planned for her had arrived at the sanctuary borders, I set down my cup, leisurely pulled out my stone, and replied to Emily with just two words.
I’m here. Open up.
Inside Room 1809.
On the
screen,
when Emily saw those words, a triumphant smile instantly bloomed on her face, her eyes glowing with a malicious Beta light. Her expression practically screamed, Isabella’s here!
Her good days are finally over!
Emily seemed to sense Alpha Lee stir on the floor, still muttering about how hot he was as the Wolfsbane coursed through him. Without another moment of hesitation, she rushed to open the door.
I knew she was probably imagining the scene playing out: me, pushed inside, humiliated by Alpha Lee, crying and begging for mercy while her vision–stones captured it all.
Just thinking about it, I could practically see her whole body thrumming with excitement, every pore bursting with the acrid scent of malicious glee.
She pulled open the door.
But then, in the very next second, all the lines I’d rehearsed, every expression I’d perfected–they completely froze on my face. Because standing outside wasn’t me–not the Isabella Emily had obsessed over, dreaming of destroying day and night.
Instead, it was a group of hulking he–wolves, their faces etched with harsh lines, their eyes cold and predatory, reeking of rogue Alpha energy. The bald he–wolf leading them was covered in pack–scars and tribal tattoos, his smooth scalp gleaming with ink under the sanctuary lights. They looked like serious trouble, the kind of rogue shifters you absolutely did not want to mess with. They were bad news, plain and simple, probably exiles from the northern territories.
When he saw Emily, he peeled back his lips in a wide, unsettling grin, revealing teeth stained a sickening yellow from years of pungent herbs. “Well, look at this one,” he slurred, his eyes lingering on Emily’s scantily clad form with a hunger that made her wolf whimper. “Pretty hot, huh? And that skin, so pale…” As he spoke, his clawed hand was already reaching for her.
A chorus of cruel, guttural laughter erupted from the others, making my own wolf’s stomach clench in instinctive warning.
A jarring BOOM! split the air as they forced their way in, making me flinch even through the monitor.
Boom-! I watched as Emily’s face went utterly slack, her eyes wide and vacant, as if a shockwave had just ripped through her mind, leaving it a terrifying blank.
I watched as Emily’s eyes, wide with sudden terror, darted frantically between the leering rogues. Her gaze searched the corridor desperately, a silent scream in her eyes: Who are these people? Why are they here? Where’s Isabella?
I knew three frantic questions must have slammed into Emily’s mind, and then, raw terror seized her heart, her pheromones spiking with the scent of a cornered animal.
The horrifying realization hit her next, a gut punch: I had brought these wolves here.
As that realization flashed, her only instinct was to slam the heavy oak door shut.
A scream tore from Emily’s throat.
She threw her weight against the door, her Beta strength trying to force it shut with all her might.
But it was too late!
A thick arm, coiled with a scorpion tattoo and pulsing with rogue power, was pressed against the door, holding it fast.

Emily strained against it, her entire body trembling with the effort, but the door wouldn’t budge. Not an inch.
From the other side, the burly rogues just grinned, their eyes glinting with a predatory delight as they watched her frantic attempts to push the
door shut.
It was like watching a mountain lion toy with a trapped hare, sick and cruel.
The bald rogue, who’d been leading them, finally seemed to tire of the game. He let out a low, guttural chuckle that sounded like stones grinding together, then casually nudged the door. It flew open.,
The door slammed back against the stone wall with a deafening CRASH that echoed through the small space, making me flinch.
Emily immediately scrambled backward, her claws unsheathing in panic as she tried to reach the washroom door, hoping to buy herself some time to figure out a plan.
But I saw her only run a few steps before the bald rogue grabbed her by the hair.
“What are you running for?”
I watched Emily flinch, terror blanching her face, as he caught her. She spun around, breaking free from the rogue’s grip with a desperate, frantic struggle.
But her panic seemed to trip her up, and she stumbled over Alpha Lee’s semi–conscious body on the floor.
“You’ve got the wrong person!” Emily’s voice was a frantic shriek, her pheromones reeking of submission. “I’m the eldest daughter of the Miller pack! If you touch me, my brother won’t let you off!”
She scrambled backward on the floor, her voice trembling almost beyond recognition. The moment they stepped closer, her plea turned into a desperate scream for help that would have alerted the whole sanctuary.
But the instant her mouth opened, a burly rogue’s large, rough hand clamped down over it, stifling her.
“Mmph! Mmph mmph mmph-!”
Emily’s screams were cut short, turning into muffled whimpers.
I watched as her eyes widened in terror, fixed on the bald he–wolf. He swaggered in, his men following close behind, then slammed the door shut with a casual backhand.
The click of that lock was like a death knell ringing in my own ears.
The bald rogue’s eyes lingered on Emily, who thrashed against their grip like a wolf in a silver trap. His smile spread, turning increasingly lewd and greedy.
“Well, well, well,” he drawled, his voice a low growl, “the Miller family’s eldest daughter. You’re not bad–looking at all, even more radiant than in the pictures.”
He stuck out his tongue and licked his lips, a grotesque, predatory gesture.
Emily shrieked behind the hand, “Who are you people?! Don’t come any closer! Or I swear, I won’t let you get away with this!”
The bald
rogue
listened to her
empty
threats and simply chuckled, a sinister sound that vibrated through the audio–runes.
“Fine, I’ll enlighten you,” he sneered.“The person you tried to screw over? Well, now it’s our turn to ‘serve‘ you. If you want to suffer less, just be sweet and keep us boys company. We can be gentle with a pretty she–wolf.”
He gestured to the others.“Alright, boys, don’t be shy. The Miller pack’s eldest daughter is a gift for us. We’ve hit the jackpot tonight!” The words were barely out of his mouth when the burly rogues erupted in a chorus of lewd, sinister laughter, closing in on Emily, step by terrifying step.
A horrifying shriek tore from Emily’s throat as the hand was momentarily removed, but it was too late. The bald rogue was already upon her, his mouth–a gaping maw of yellowed teeth–lunging forward to claim her scent.
A putrid stench of stale pungent herbs, so foul it made her gag, filled her mouth.
No!
Stop it!
Emily screamed without making a sound, her eyes blazing with raw terror and absolute despair.
Her head whipped from side to side, a frantic blur, her body thrashing wildly. Her limbs flailed, kicking and punching at the empty air around her as she tried to force a shift that wouldn’t come under the stress.
But against the sheer brute force of those hulking Alphas, her Beta strength was utterly negligible. She was nothing more than a lamb to the slaughter, completely defenseless.
The gut–wrenching screams I knew she wanted to unleash were choked back, trapped deep in her throat. Only pathetic, desperate whimpers escaped her lips.

Then, the wolves swarmed her. A sickening tangle of hands descended, ripping at her silk slip. It wasn’t just one; it was all of them, closing in like a pack on a fresh kill.
Even Alpha Lee, who had been lying unconscious on the ground, began to stir, startled awake by her relentless screams and the influx of rival Alpha pheromones. My blood ran cold as I watched him slowly come to, his eyes turning a hazy gold, only to quickly join the others in the frenzy.
Just then, a large, warm
and covered my eyes.
“This isn’t something you should be watching.”
The moment I heard his voice, I knew it was Grayson. The scent of rain and forest filled my senses, instantly soothing my wolf’s agitation. I felt the warmth of his palm against my face, and the sounds from the monitor faded into silence. He’d deactivated the audio–runes. The corner of my mouth, which had been curved in a satisfied smile, dropped. I let out a dissatisfied hum against his palm.
He wasn’t going to let me see my enemy’s misery, and now he wouldn’t even let me hear it?
It was as if Grayson knew exactly what I was thinking through our bond.
He suddenly leaned in close, his breath warm against my ear, murmuring, “No. It’s too dirty.”
Almost the instant Grayson’s words faded, he pulled his hand away and wrapped me in his powerful arms, pulling me into his chest. Before my eyes could adjust from the sudden darkness, before I could even glimpse the monitor again, I was already enveloped in Grayson’s Alpha embrace.
His broad shoulders completely blocked my view of the screen.
Against all odds, I tried to lift my head, my wolf’s curiosity sparking as I wanted to see the final fall of my rival. But the instant my face turned upward, his lips slammed onto mine, crushing my attempt and forcing my head back down.
His lips were thin and cold from the night air, yet as they pressed against mine, they felt surprisingly soft and searingly hot, fueled by his inner wolf’s passion.
I quickly succumbed to his kiss, my hands tangling in his dark hair, but my eyes flickered to the door of the monitoring room. It wasn’t locked. A sudden wave of panic tightened my chest, and I tried to warn him.
“The door, mmph-”
Grayson kissed me for a moment longer, his tongue tracing my teeth with a possessive claim. Then, as I gasped for air, he whispered against my lips, his eyes glowing with gold,
“Don’t worry, no one’s coming in. My warriors are at the door.”
My cheeks burned hot with Alpha pheromones.“It feels strange to do this here=”

My previous thought–that this felt “strange“-seemed impossibly naive now. Strange? This was terrifying. My wolf was pacing in circles, her hackles raised, sensing the overwhelming Alpha dominance radiating from Grayson as he pinned me with his gaze.
