Chapter 61
He’d sent a message, and now he was here.
It seemed Emily hadn’t been as successful as he’d hoped in resolving his problems.
But it wasn’t my concern.
I scoffed and severed the link without hesitation.
I knew I was no longer the person who’d bend over backward for my brothers.
The next day, Emily sought me out at the Moonpetal Den training grounds.
She didn’t bother checking the classrooms; instead, she used her contacts to learn I had no training during the afternoon’s first period.
Perfect timing–she’d just finished a sparring session at the training arena and headed straight to the library.
My routine was simple; if I had no training, I’d be at the library.
Sure enough, Emily only waited a moment before spotting me approaching.
I wore a warm, grey tunic, my long fur flowing down my back.
Even without elaborate adornments, I felt like a creature of power.
Emily’s eyes gleamed with envy! As I approached the library, carrying several weighty tomes, I spotted her nearby and frowned.
She’d interrupt my studies.
I turned to leave, seeking a quieter location.
But Emily saw me and hurried over, blocking my path.
“Isabella!” her voice was sugary sweet.
I pretended not to hear.
But Emily, usually graceful and composed, sprinted towards me, arms outstretched to stop me.
Her usual elegance was gone, replaced by breathless urgency.
“Isabella, why are you…” She caught up, but her rapid pace left her winded, her face flushed, and sweat beaded on her brow.
I smirked, feeling no inclination to assist her.
After regaining her breath, she said, “Jared wants you to repair the drone; he’s willing to pay.”
Her tone was condescending, as if offering payment was a great kindness.
I remained uninterested.

As I turned to leave, she couldn’t contain her excitement, her eyes darting around, reluctant to offer ten thousand but blurting out, “Thirty thousand silver pieces per drone.”
