Chapter 637.
“I’ll make you live your entire life in agony and regret! I’ll make sure you remember me forever!”
The second the words were out, her grip on the silver–edged dagger clenched. With a guttural, feral scream, she lunged, plunging the blade with all her might towards my throat! My wolf recoiled, a sharp yelp of warning echoing in my mind.
She’d been determined to take me down with her!
I could see the chilling intent in her eyes: she wanted to use my blood, my death, to carve an indelible scar into Grayson’s heart, a wou he’d carry forever. As a she–wolf, her final act was meant to be a blood–curse of trauma upon my fated mate
But then-
Just as the blade was about to graze my skin.
Julia’s body stiffened abruptly.
Her entire body went rigid, as if a sudden, irresistible force from the Ancient Wolf Covenant had slammed into her, pinning her in place.
Her hand froze mid–air.
She couldn’t move.
Her eyes still burned with murderous intent, a furious desperation contorting her face, but her body remained utterly still, unresponsive. It was like watching a rusted machine suddenly seize up, refusing to obey her will. Her wolf was trapped within a paralyzed cage of flesh.
What was happening?
A flicker of terror, stark and raw, crossed her face, as if the horrific possibility of her dreaded illness–her essence failing–striking now had just occurred to her.
At this exact, critical moment?
But then, I saw a flash of denial in her eyes, a desperate understanding. She knew the wasting of a wolf’s spirit caused tremors and uncontrolled movements, not this sudden, rigid paralysis.
She glared at me.
By then, I was already slowly wriggling free from her stiffened grip. My own wolf prowled with quiet satisfaction.
Reaching out, I gently pulled the dagger from her unresponsive hand.
I stretched my wrist, which had gone a little numb, then calmly walked up to Julia, who was still frozen in place.
“Phew–it’s a bit of a hassle controlling someone without a literal remote
After I said that, I turned to Grayson, who was standing nearby, and gave him an “OK” sign.
“It’s done. I’ve got her under control.”
Julia’s mind buzzed.
Her rigid gaze was locked on me, wide and unblinking.
< Chapter 637.
I could see the horror dawning in her eyes, the stark realization hitting her like a physical blow: I had controlled her with our world, technology and pack–blood often intertwined in ways low–born wolves couldn’t fathom.
Shock and fury twisted her features.
As if I could read her mind, a faint, almost pitying smile curved my lips.
“Don’t stare at me like that,” I said, my voice flat. “You should be thanking me. You are controlled by nanobots.”
Fury blazed in Julia’s eyes.
I could practically hear the unspoken ‘Bullshit!‘ screaming in her head, the howl of a trapped animal.
Of course she knew.
Then, her rigid expression faltered. A single word seemed to form in her mind, clear as if she’d spoken it aloud: Wait… My words, You’re controlled by nanobots,‘ must have echoed in her mind, twisting something fundamental.
horrifying realization must have slammed into her: she’d already been under control, long before this.
Her eyes widened further, screaming a silent,‘How is that even possible?!‘
I watched as an utterly absurd, yet terrifying, thought began to claw its way into her mind.
Her gaze unfocused, lost in memory. I knew she was recalling her so–called ‘ALS‘–that phantom degradation of her wolf.
Then, the doctor in the black market who had ‘conveniently‘ diagnosed her condition.
And finally, those ‘accidental‘ whispers about my whereabouts on the Howlnet that had always seemed to find their way to her.
I watched her, knowing exactly what was churning in her mind: the unnerving ease with which she’d managed to hire these desperate rogue men, orchestrated this whole abduction.
It had all been too smooth.
Too smooth, as if someone had laid out a path straight to hell just for her.
And she, the hunter who thought she was so clever, was nothing more than a puppet on my strings.
Even before I took control of her, she’d already been dancing to someone else’s tune.
I smiled at her.“Figured it out? I saved you. How dangerous were your plans before this? Trying to snatch someone and commit murder right under your brother’s nose? You’d have been wiped out in minutes.”
Julia, however, wasn’t having any of it. Her gaze locked onto me, hard and unyielding.
Saved her?
Me, having a heart like that?
If I truly wanted to save her, would I have kept her body frozen, unable to move?
What’s more, we weren’t exactly in a position to save each other.
This wasn’t just an abduction. This was a calculated, brazen act of humiliation.
I was proving it wasn’t I? My nanobots were far superior to hers, a truth she couldn’t deny. I could manipulate them without a single
levice, while she struggled to even get hers to respond.
* Chapter 637.
I knew that forcing Julia to admit my nanobots were superior was a humiliation far worse than death for ser
her spirit
I’d rather die than be at Aurora’s mercy.
I’d rather Grayson put a bullet through my skull than let anyone ‘save‘ me, Isabella, with that sickeningly pinging candeorauding vine
A massive wave of fury and indignation threatened to consume my sanity.
Julia, however, wasn’t having any of it. If looks could kill, her eyes would have torn me to shreds right then and thera
Just then, Grayson strode toward me.
He stopped directly in front of me.
His impossibly handsome face was covered in a thick layer of ice, his dark eyes bottomless, churning with a terrifying on the tighe pheromones were so thick they felt like a physical weight, pressing against my skin.
A sudden stiffness seized me. I immediately dropped my focus on Julia, turning to face Grayson.
“Grayson…” I murmured softly. My wolf lowered her head, sensing his absolute dominance.
Grayson didn’t say a word.
Instead, he simply extended his long arm, seizing me and yanking me away from Julia, pulling me tightly against his front.
I was about to speak.
The next second, the world spun around me.
He hooked his arm around my waist, hoisting me up roughly–not gently at all–and throwing me directly over his broad shoulder
I gasped, utterly stunned. My inner wolf let out a startled whimper at the sheer force of his grip.
My head instantly swam, my vision tilting, and all I could see was his broad, unyielding back and the stairs blurring beneath
“Grayson! What are you doing? Put me down!”
Just then, from the stairwell of the lighthouse, the hurried, rhythmic thud of footsteps reached my ears.
Faye rushed up, followed by a dozen or so men in white full–body hazmat suits and goggles.
These men, clearly well–trained pack enforcers, swiftly surrounded the immobile Julia, keeping a precise, safe distance. Grayson carried me, his steps never faltering. As he passed Faye, he merely tossed a cold command over his shoulder.
“Keep an eye on her.”
“Yes, sir!”
Seeing him about to carry me away like this, I panicked.
I clung to his shoulder, trying to steady myself, and blurted out an explanation.
feet
“Grayson, listen to me! I need neurons from Julia for your Blood–Core Replacement! No matter how powerful nanobots are, they’re no match for pure biological material!”
“And I was prepared! The nanobots I implanted in her can reverse–control the ones already in her body. I calculated everything–there’s absolutely no danger!”
