I listened calmly, my gaze locked onto the shimmering obsidian ritual screen, tracing the spiritual projections from inside Miles’s body.
No one else could see them.
But I could.
Around the damaged organs and vessels, billions of tiny shimmering healing essences were whirring at a furious speed.
They were like an army of the most precise, tireless worker ants from the ancient packs.
Some swiftly mended ruptured blood vessel walls, stopping further blood loss.
Others formed a microscopic protective net‘ of spirit–energy, enveloping the damaged organs to prevent infection and further deterioration.
Still others stimulated bone cell regeneration, preparing for the extensive bone repair to come.
These were the ancient healing essences I’d infused into Miles years ago!
The moment he’d been in the accident, the instant his body suffered such catastrophic trauma, these essences–powered by his own Alpha–lineage blood and intrinsically linked to his primal spirit–line–had automatically initiated their highest–level ‘emergency life support‘ protocol!
They had saved his life!
They’d kept him alive long enough for him to reach the Healing Sanctum, long enough for me to get here!
Underneath my mask, a faint, almost imperceptible smile touched my lips. My wolf, usually pacing with anxiety, finally settled, sensing the steady pulse
of her kin.
Perfect.
They hadn’t disappointed me.
“Prepare for the ritual.”
The calm, decisive tone of my voice instantly settled the nerves of every healer in the sanctum.
It was as if, with me present, no obstacle was insurmountable, no life beyond saving.
“Clear the hemoperitoneum.”
“Essence–assisted organ bonding.”
“Prepare the bioscaffolds for bone reconstruction.”
Command after command issued clearly from my lips.
My hands were rock–steady.
Through precise instruments, I directed the healing essences, performing a ritual that was light–years ahead of anything known to the Silvermoon Pack.
With the essences‘ assistance, operations that would have been incredibly complex and fraught with high risk became precise and efficient.
In my mind, I pictured the broken organs being perfectly mended, flawlessly stitched back together until there were no visible traces of the repair.
I visualized the shattered femur, guided by biological scaffolds and spiritual motes, slowly but surely reshaping, healing, every tiny fragment knitting back together.
Time crawled by, each second an eternity under the cold moon.
For us, waiting outside that stone door, every moment was torture, each second an agonizing year.
Susan had cried herself dry, the she–wolf leaning listlessly against Evan, her eyes glued to the door.
Grayson was leaning against the wall, eyes closed, seemingly calm. But the way his fists were clenched, I could tell he was anything but.
His tightly clenched fists, I knew, betrayed his worry for me.

And I understood why. I’d just come out of his healing ritual, utterly drained, only to immediately dive into another operation of such immense difficulty. My wolf whimpered at the strain, her fur dull with exhaustion.
Orion, meanwhile, paced the corridor, his handsome brows drawn together in a tight knot.
Finally.
After what felt like an eternity.
The red ritual torch above the sanctum door, which had burned for so long, flickered, then snapped off.
The green light of life came on.
My heart leaped into my throat. I felt the collective gasp, every eye fixated on that door.
The door swung open.
They wheeled Miles and me out of the sanctum, side by side.
He was still out cold, but his face had already regained a healthier flush.
The steady, rhythmic beat on the monitor beside his bed, a clear surge of life, announced he was finally out of danger.
I walked alongside his litter, feeling the weariness etched across my face, but my eyes… they were shining with an almost startling brightness.
“Isabella!”
Grayson was the first to rush forward.

He didn’t ask about the ritual. Instead, he reached out, gently pulled me into him, and let me lean against his shoulder, offering the most solid support I could ask for.
A wave of warmth, a familiar pheromone of cedar and musk, enveloped me. My wolf leaned into his, finding solace in our bond.
My tense body instantly relaxed.
I saw Orion’s eyes darken as he watched Grayson’s intimate gesture, his hand clenching into a fist almost unconsciously. His inner Alpha let out a silent, jealous snarl that I could feel vibrating in the air.
“Miles… how is he?” Orion’s voice was tight with urgency.
I saw Susan stumble forward, practically collapsing onto the edge of the bed, her voice trembling as she asked.
Evan, his face etched with anxiety, watched me intently, waiting for… for me to deliver the verdict.
Leaning into Grayson’s comforting embrace, I managed a soft, reassuring smile for them.
“He’s going to be okay.”
I whispered.
“Miles is out of the woods. All his vital signs are stable, and he just needs some time to recover before he wakes up.”
The relief that flooded their faces was palpable. My simple words, I could tell, were like the sweetest music to their ears.
“Oh, Great Moon… thank the Moon…”
The instant they wheeled us out, my eyes found Susan. I watched as the unbearable tension that had held the she–wolf upright for so long finally seemed to snap inside her.
Her eyes rolled back, and I watched, helpless, as she crumpled to the floor, collapsing limply.
“Sister–in–law!”
Evan, with his usual lightning reflexes, sprang forward and caught Susan before she could hit the ground.
I hurried over, my own heart still pounding, and gave her a quick once–over. Just as I suspected, she’d simply fainted from the sheer emotional overload and utter exhaustion. Nothing critical, thankfully.
I called for a healer–initiate and instructed her to settle Susan into Miles’s room.

I watched as Miles and Susan were moved into the pack room. I could see the tension finally drain from Evan’s shoulders as he focused his mind–link.
“I’ll contact the Elders and the others through the Howlnet to let them know we’re safe, so they don’t worry at the den.”
I murmured a soft agreement.
Then, an overwhelming wave of exhaustion crashed over me.
My body swayed.
The next second, a pair of strong arms steadied me.
Before I could even react, suddenly, the world spun around me, and I was swept off
“Grayson!”
I gasped, my arms instinctively tightening around his neck.
my
feet!
His deep voice rumbled above my head, his Alpha scent wrapping around me like a protective cloak.
