My eyes widened, staring at Grayson’s scent–stone, my voice trembling with excitement.
This… this is an internal document! How did you get it?”
My gaze was locked on the shimmering glyphs; I didn’t notice his gentle yet complex gaze.
His long fingers lightly touched his forearm, revealing uneven scars hidden beneath his fur.
My she–wolf felt a prickle of unease, a low growl rumbling in my chest.
I focused intently on the document, even slowing my breathing.
It wasn’t until I finished reading the last glyph that I realized I had been monopolizing Grayson’s scent–stone.
“Oops, sorry.” My cheeks flushed as I quickly copied the glyphs onto my own scent–stone, then carefully wiped a stray drop of broth from its surface with a napkin.
He didn’t mind the scent–stone; instead, he asked with concern, “Is this helpful? How much do you remember about that incident?”
I furrowed my brow, thinking seriously for a moment.
“There’s no direct evidence that Marcus started the fire; the damaged lock doesn’t prove it was locked… but!” My
eyes lit up.
“The file mentions a witness who saw Emily at the fire scene!”
I quickly noted the witness’s name–Daniel.
My she–wolf urged me forward; no matter what, I had to find this person and get some answers.
Just then, Grayson softly said, “He dropped out and disappeared.” I froze, my fingers hovering over the
scent–stone.
“Dropped out and disappeared? The trail’s gone cold.
Doesn’t that end the investigation?”
Grayson looked at the disappointment in my eyes, his lips curling slightly as if he wanted to say something comforting.
But then I suddenly looked up, my gaze filled with curiosity and suspicion.
“Grayson, why do you know so much about this?” My voice held disbelief.
His knowledge exceeded that of a normal pack member.
He not only had the documents from the fire incident but also knew about the witness’s disappearance.
My she–wolf was on high alert, her fur bristling.
Grayson paused, raising an eyebrow, considering what to say, but I’d already jumped to my own conclusions.

“Grayson, you’re targeting the Miller family, right?” My tone was certain; I looked at him strangely, a smirk playing on my lips.
I think the Miller brothers are petty, holding onto childhood grudges.
But Grayson, you’re also quite vengeful; you haven’t let it go either.” As a pup, the youngest, Grayson hadn’t targeted me; my resentment towards him stemmed from my brothers‘ anger.
My she–wolf felt a flicker of old hurt.
Grayson shot me a strange look.
He rested his chin on one hand, tilting his head slightly, and softly uttered a single word:“Fool.”
I looked up, confused.
“What?”
He smiled lightly, his tone lazy and indulgent.
“Still eating? Let’s go home if not.”
At that moment, I snapped back to reality, remembering the steaming broth in front of me, and quickly exclaimed, “Of course, I want more!” My eyes shone with anticipation; this was the stew I’d craved for two lifetimes, and I hadn’t even had a few bites before being interrupted.
Grayson watched me with a slight smile, his tone softening.
“Eat slowly; I’ll bring you here often; it’s our place now.”
I looked up curiously.
“Grayson, why did you open this stew house?” It seemed so out of character for his usual cold demeanor.
Grayson shook his head gently, his gaze softening as he murmured to himself, “It’s because of a certain foolish little
she–wolf.”
