Five Years of Marriage to Mr. Bradford (by Koi Fish) novel Chapter 202

Chapter 202

Rebecca stayed quiet, recording whatever Vance said.

When the truth about the volunteer work finally came out, she would play this clip and watch his face

burn.

“My grandma always praised a thin volunteer girl, who wiped her down, fed her medicine, and helped her out of bed for check-ups. Such a sweet, kind-hearted girl. After all these years, she hasn’t changed a bit.”

He suddenly opened his eyes and stared at her. “And you? I wash your feet all the time.”

Yes, he had done that after she was injured in the accident. It felt like a lifetime ago-so long ago that she didn’t want to dig through the painful memories anymore.

“Don’t you have anything to say?” His hand slid up and cupped her face. “Mrs. Bradford?”

She thought for a second. “You could always ask Catherine to wash yours. She’s good at it.”

Catherine could do that for him every day, but Rebecca wouldn’t be around to see it.

He pinched her nose. “Do you even have a conscience? Getting jealous like this?”

There he came again, thinking she was being jealous. He never seemed to understand that when a wife said something like that, it wasn’t jealousy, but indifference.

“Let go. I can’t breathe.” She opened her mouth wide, swatting his hand.

He finally released her and tipped his head back against the sofa. He sighed, “Cathy and I aren’t what you

think. We…”

He paused. “Never mind. You wouldn’t get it.”

“I don’t,” she said. “Because other people don’t repeat their mistakes. She dumped you like a dirty sock, yet when she is back, you’re still running after her like a puppy.”

He glared. “Dirty sock? Me?”

Rebecca snorted. What else?

“You don’t understand. She’s…”

“Yeah, I don’t understand. I hope you two last forever. Because…” She felt his arms loosen a little and slipped free. “People don’t make the same mistakes.”

“Wait!” He tried to grab her. “I haven’t told you the second mistake yet.”

She dodged, ready this time. “It’s me standing here listening to your nonsense.”

A call came right then. He forgot about their conversation and reached for the phone that had fallen on the floor during their struggle. He leaned over to pick it up and accidentally hit the speaker.

It was Aiden checking if Vance had made it home. Vance was too drunk to notice his loud voice.

“Yeah, I’m home. Don’t worry. Rebecca is with me.”

“That’s exactly why we’re worried. Your housekeeper’s still in the hospital. You could have just stayed at Cathy’s place. She will look after you.”

“That’s fine. I can look after myself.”

“Oh, and Cathy’s AC might be acting up again.”

They kept talking about Catherine until Vance started fading. The phone slipped onto the sofa.

Aiden was still talking. “By the way, about my salary bump of one million dollars and that multi-million

bonus at Q2… Keep that quiet, okay? If my wife finds out, that money’s really mine. Does Lucas get anything, or is it just me? Don’t want to slip up.”
