Chapter 204
“Well…” Rebecca was still smiling from the joke, “You asked Aiden to take good care of Catherine, saying you love her so much, but you have to take responsibility for me.”
“That’s it?” Vance stared.
She held his gaze. “What else? Are you hiding something?”
His eyes flickered. “No, nothing.”
“Then move your hand. You’re blocking my show.” She pushed his hand away.
He observed her expression. “You’re not mad?”
“Why would I? This show is hilarious.” She burst out laughing again.
But she didn’t get to keep watching, because he suddenly pulled her into his arms, pressing her head against his shoulder. “Rebecca, when is Grandma coming back?”
Alarm bells went off in her head. “Why?”
“The day after tomorrow, okay? I’ve got a few free days starting then. We can take her on that trip we talked about.”
“Uh, we’ll see. I’m not sure when she’s coming back.”
She and Josette did have a trip planned, just without him.
“Where did Josette go with her friends? Why did it take so many days?” he grumbled.
“That’s my grandma. What are you sighing about?”
“She’s my grandma, too. Alright, enough joking around. I’m heading out to an important meeting.”
He sat up. The show aroused Rebecca’s laughter again.
“I don’t have time to make breakfast. Just order something.” He got out of bed, threw on clothes, and left
in a rush.
The second he was gone, Rebecca video-called Josette, Josette had just come back from the hotel restaurant, looking great.
Rebecca felt relieved, deciding to eat something, but the fridge was empty, with Nancy still in the hospital. There weren’t even snacks except a package of chips.
Excluding that day, she only had two days left. If she wasn’t leaving the house, she needed supplies. She opened the grocery delivery app and ordered enough food for three days, then got up to wash her face and change.
Half an hour later, her phone buzzed. The delivery guy had arrived.

She granted him access, and soon the doorbell rang. Through the surveillance, she saw the guy in a yellow uniform.
“Please leave it outside. I’ll grab it in a minute,” she said, wearing a face mask.
“Okay,” the guy answered before leaving.
After removing the mask, she creaked open the door when a figure rushed at her.
She caught a flash of yellow, then everything went black as something was yanked over her head.
She felt herself being stuffed into a big box, carried down in the elevator, and then hoisted onto someone’s shoulder. At the same time, a wad of cloth was shoved into her mouth, and ropes tightened around her body.
Outside, she heard the security say, “Moving stuff?”
“Yeah, the client needs it repaired,” answered the man carrying her.
She recognized that voice. It belonged to that delivery guy, but she couldn’t scream or move.
They loaded her into a vehicle and drove somewhere. When they finally stopped, someone carried the box out and dumped it on the ground.
The lid opened, and she was pulled out of the sack. The whole ride, she had been trying to figure out who would kidnap her. She had been so careful and hadn’t even planned to leave the apartment for the last two days.
But disaster still fell upon her. She had lived in that place for five years without any trouble, coming and going casually.
When they pulled the sack off, she found herself inside an unfinished building. Two men pinned her down and tied her limbs with rope.
One of them was none other than that delivery guy, still wearing that yellow shirt.
He tossed her into a corner. “Stay there!”
It would have been a lie to say she wasn’t scared, but fear wouldn’t help. Shakily, she started surveying the surroundings.
From the height, they had to be at least ten floors up. The windows had no glass, and jumping off was purely suicidal.
