Five Years of Marriage to Mr. Bradford (by Koi Fish) novel Chapter 216

Chapter 216

Romantic? Did she not want to be romantic? Who hadn’t been a dreamy girl in front of the person she loved?

How many times had she tried to build a romantic life and a sweet home with him, only to be shut down by his coldness every time? And now, he called her unromantic.

“Maybe my idea of romantic is different from yours.” She opened the cupboard and took out some pasta. “Have you eaten?”

He snatched it from her hand. “I told you I was taking you out tonight. I already booked the restaurant.”

Right. She had forgotten.

“You forgot?” he frowned. “Didn’t you listen? What are you thinking all day?”

She naturally would not tell him the truth: how to divorce him.

“Are you mad?” He misread her look and turned off the stove. “Come on, change your clothes. We’re going out.”

She nodded, considering it their last supper.

Vance had booked a Japanese restaurant. It was surprising since he preferred heavy flavors and never

ate raw fish. She rarely ate sashimi either.

“New restaurant. Let’s try it.” He led her into a large private room.

The waiter brought menus and started explaining the grand-opening special set.

“We’ll find out,” Vance said.

“Of course. Ring the bell if you need anything,” the waiter replied, leaving.

Vance told Rebecca, “Order whatever you like. Don’t worry about the set. There’s always something in those you don’t want.”

She was fine with anything, but sets usually meant too much food. She ordered grilled wagyu, tempura, a soup, and two plates of sushi.

“That’s all?” he asked.

She had no idea what he ordered. When he finally finished, he asked, “You didn’t order any dessert. Want

some ice cream?”

“Let me see.” She checked it out, shocked to see over 30 items in the order.

There were dozens of types of sashimi-each a full portion. Some were ordered multiple times.

Her jaw dropped. “Can we even eat all this?”

The price was one thing, but the two of them couldn’t possibly finish so much food.

She added, “Neither of us really eats raw stuff.”

“We can finish it. Want to add anything else?” he said.

She shook her head, believing it was already too much. She didn’t even want dessert anymore, but then a thought hit her.

“Did you invite other people?” she asked.

“It was supposed to be just us, but on the way over, I remembered Cathy loves Japanese food, so I

invited everyone,” he replied with a sheepish smile.

Her eyes narrowed. “What do you mean by that? Neither of us loves Japanese food.”

From the beginning, only Catherine liked it. Yet he pretended to remember it on the way over.

“What we eat doesn’t matter, right? It’s about everyone getting together.” Vance reached across the table and took her hand. “Don’t be mad, okay? I should have told you earlier, but you wouldn’t have come.” 1

“When have I ever stopped you from eating with Catherine?” she retorted. “Do it as you like. Why drag me

into it?”
