Chapter 234
Jenny sent over a large version of that picture.
Rebecca: [Yes, it’s me.]
Jenny: [Oh my gosh! Where have you gone? Who posted this? Who are you traveling with?]
Rebecca: [It’s our dance academy’s touring troupe. They’re performing across Europe, and I’ve joined them to experience it firsthand.]
Jenny: [This is bad. Vance is going to lose it. Actually, he already has.]
Rebecca checked their group chat, but there was nothing unusual. No one was discussing it.
Jenny: [Stuff like this wouldn’t be in the main group. The guys have their own side chat. They’ve come to me with questions.]
Rebecca: [How did you come across this post?]
Jenny: [Ever heard of six degrees of separation? A friend of a friend of a friend… Eventually, there’s
always a connection. Anyway, didn’t you tell Vance about this? He seemed furious when he called the guy who shared the photo in their chat.]
Rebecca: [No, I didn’t mention it.]
Jenny: [What if he asks me? How do I reply?]
Rebecca: [Just tell him you don’t know.]
No sooner had she sent the message than Vance contacted her, forwarding the screenshot of Desmond’s post.
Vance: [Explain what this is all about.]
She chose not to respond, but more poured in.
Vance: [No response? Turned off your phone? Have I indulged you too much?]
Vance: [You have no qualms about accepting my money, but then you sneak off abroad with another man?]
Vance: [How long have you two been scheming this? Visas don’t process overnight! How long have you been carrying on behind my back?]
Vance: [Fine, ignore my calls and messages. You’d better stay gone forever!] →
Rebecca placed her phone aside, intending to nap before assisting Lauren with organizing dinner.
In the oceanfront villa on the island, Vance paced the living room with a dark expression. Eventually, he

seized his phone and began searching for flight options.
“Vance…” Catherine called out cautiously, sensing his anger.
He pinched the bridge of his nose. “You can stay here and enjoy a few more days. I’ll book a ticket back home now.”
“But rushing back won’t help,” she reasoned. “She is not at home, not even in Soliaridge.”
He took a deep breath. “You’re right. I’ve lost my perspective.”
“Take it easy,” Catherine consoled him. “She might just be feeling cooped up at home and decided to get
out for a bit of adventure.”
“Adventure? With her leg in that condition? And ran off with another man without telling me? I already promised to go with her in a few days.” Vance unleashed a torrent of frustration. 1
Then he noticed Catherine’s wounded expression and realized he had misdirected his outburst.
“I’m sorry. It’s not aimed at you. I’m just…” he faltered.
At last, he understood the source of his persistent anxiety over the past few days. The pieces had fallen into place.
