Chapter 238
Moving quietly back into the room, Rebecca was surprised to find Lauren still awake, diligently scribbling in a notebook.
“Lauren, you’re still working?” Rebecca asked, still sweating.
Lauren looked up. “Oh dear, hurry and shower before you catch a cold. How long did you guys keep at it?”
“You knew I went dancing?” Rebecca felt a wave of embarrassment.
She used to be one of Lauren’s favorite students, but now she couldn’t even dance normally.
“Of course, I did,” Lauren replied with a knowing grin. “I stopped by to watch. The three of you were creating something entirely new.”
Rebecca’s anxiety heightened. “The way I dance now…”
“Excellent!” Lauren interjected firmly. “Dance is technique, sure, but it’s also raw emotion, the romantic urge to simply move, and the sheer courage to stand up after falling countless times. I’m thrilled to have you back with us.”
“Lauren…” Rebecca felt an urge to embrace Lauren but hesitated due to her perspiration. “I’ll shower first.
“Go ahead. I’ll finish up here shortly.” Lauren nodded, resuming her task.
By the time Rebecca stepped out of the bathroom, Lauren was almost done. They exchanged a few words and reminded each other to rest early.
Yet sleep evaded Rebecca. The day’s events had left her too exhilarated to settle.
She examined the photo Helia had sent. That version of herself felt both familiar and distant, but it was undeniably the one she cherished most.
The encouragement from Lauren, Helia, and Desmond echoed in her mind repeatedly. Finally, she reached a firm resolution and posted the photo online with a simple caption: [I’ve decided.]
She had made up her mind. No matter whether she could still dance or not, she was determined to bring this grand dance drama to life.
The post quickly garnered a surge of likes and comments. Checking them, she saw that in mere minutes, the reactions had filled an entire page.
The comments were overwhelmingly positive. Desmond’s quip was among them: [Understood.]
He was still awake. It brought a smile to her face.
Comments from her high school classmates appeared as well, including one from Obadiah: [You’re always our goddess.]

As she considered how to reply, a new response popped up: [Wipe the drool from your mouth!]
It was from Vance.
The comment section immediately buzzed with activity. Vance and Obadiah began arguing right there.
Obadiah: [My intentions are pure-nothing but admiration for our goddess. You, on the other hand, should clean up your own mess!]
Vance: [You’d better hope your backbone matches that big nerve.]
Obadiah: [Come at me then! Let’s see if my fists are harder than your words!]
Vance: [Be ready. I’ve just landed!]
Rebecca found the exchange utterly juvenile and promptly deleted the entire thread.
Right after, Vance messaged her, attaching a screenshot of her post. He demanded: [Explain this! What have you decided? What have you and that Schroeder kid agreed upon?]
If deciding on divorce qualified as a decision, he would learn soon enough upon returning home.
More messages flooded in at an unprecedented rate and intensity over their five years together.
Vance: [I’m back in Soliaridge now. You have two days to come home, or don’t blame me for what follows.]
Vance: [You’re ignoring me, fine. But be clear that you live on my dime. Without me, you’d have no means to survive. Keep this up, and you’ll be begging me to take you back!] 1
