Rebecca’s thoughts were consumed by the dance concept that had sparked in her mind earlier.

If she wanted to expand into a full production as Helia had suggested, how would she structure it? Ideas collided like a storm, overwhelming her to the point where Vance’s messages barely registered as minor ripples, easily swept away by the vast waves of her creativity and vanishing without a trace.

She didn’t even consider blocking him; they caused her no real disturbance. After a glance, she dove back into envisioning her dance.

The inspiration had begun with the theme of a phoenix’s rebirth, but her imagination expanded rapidly to cycles of endless renewal, to legacies that endured through time, and to grander scales.

She envisioned drawing from mythic folklore as her foundation, crafting an epic dance drama. The more she reflected, the more exhilarated she became, other emotions fading away.

Even her dreams were filled with sweeping landscapes, flowing rivers, and mythical creatures.

Vance couldn’t wait for dawn; with only an hour until the last flight, he purchased tickets without hesitation, packed his things, and rushed to the airport.

He had initially planned to go alone, but Catherine insisted on accompanying him back. Given the time constraints, he didn’t argue.

Upon arriving in Soliaridge, he headed straight home, with Catherine following closely.

He wasn’t entirely sure why he felt such urgency to return. The house was empty, after all, but an inexplicable compulsion drove him there.

When Catherine expressed concern and refused to let him go alone, he lacked the energy to persuade

her otherwise.

Catherine stepped out of the elevator first and immediately spotted the paper crane affixed to the door. Her face drained of color as she quickly tore it down, then knocked on the door.

“Isn’t your housekeeper home?” she asked.

Vance followed right behind, using his fingerprint to unlock the door. The interior appeared unchanged from when he had left, except for the absence of one person.

Having tucked away the crane, Catherine swiftly scanned the space for any other potential clues that might give things away.

Fortunately, there seemed to be nothing else. It appeared the paper crane was the only item.

After setting down his suitcase, Vance habitually made his way to the bedroom, with Catherine trailing him.

He pulled open her closet doors, only to be confronted by emptiness. The thought of Rebecca selling

secondhand clothes on eBay struck him.

She had claimed her wardrobe was overflowing and she wanted to clear space for new items. So, she had been preparing for this all along, and he had been completely in the dark.

“Not a single piece of clothing left,” Catherine murmured. “Is she planning not to return?”

“That’s impossible,” Vance declared resolutely. “How could she not come back? She is just throwing a fit.

Rebecca loved him so deeply, having done so since high school, and even sacrificed a leg to save him. How could she just leave for good?

“I know this must be painful for you,” Catherine began sympathetically. “Perhaps you should check if she left anything behind. Messages, emails, or notes?”

Her suggestion sparked a realization, and he began searching every room. Catherine shadowed him closely, anxious that Rebecca might have left something incriminating.

In the end, Vance discovered the divorce agreement and the accompanying note in his desk drawer.

The note was concise, just a few lines that he absorbed in a single glance. The word “divorce” stood out most prominently among them.
