Chapter 264
Rebecca woke up early every day.
When Vance’s message arrived, she was already up and on her way to rehabilitation.
This matter was serious. No matter what was happening between them, she wouldn’t let the studio suffer.
She assumed the clothes had been delivered for her to try on and approve, so she replied: [I’ll take care of it.]
Scrolling down, she noticed the staff member had messaged her earlier, but the chat had been buried at the bottom of her list. She had been too busy to check.
She quickly typed back: [Sorry, I’ve been out of the country and missed your messages. The clothes are fine. I’ll sign for them. Just charge the account.]
The studio used a membership system, and she had prepaid a large amount.
Then she saw the typing indicator appear. The staff member seemed to be editing a long message. Maybe the balance was low, or they had new designs to discuss.
After a long wait, all she got was one word: [Okay.]
Another message followed: [Mrs. Bradford, may I ask if you’re on vacation abroad?]
Rebecca hesitated, then told the truth: [I’m on tour with my former teacher.]
The staff member: [Really? That’s wonderful!]
Rebecca remembered she had also ordered winter pieces for Vance that were no longer necessary. She asked if the winter collection had started and, if not, whether she could cancel.
The staff member: [Not started yet. Cancellation is no problem.]
Then the typing indicator appeared again and stayed.
Rebecca: [Is something wrong? If it goes against studio policy, then forget it.]
She could send off the pieces as gifts. The staff members had always been kind, but Derek wasn’t an easy person to deal with. She didn’t want to cause trouble for them.
The reply came fast: [No, no problem at all. By the way, do you remember the cufflinks you designed? We still have a few pairs left. A customer is very interested and would love to buy them. Are you sure you don’t want to sell?]
Rebecca realized what was going on. She typed back without hesitation: [Yes, you can sell them. Handle it however you like.]
For five years, she had lived for Vance. Because of her limp, she had always felt like a burden, so she

poured every ounce of herself into the marriage through the only things she could control-the details of daily life and emotional support.
She had lowered herself to the dust just to be worthy. The cufflinks had been part of that love.
She had wanted every piece he wore to be one of a kind, so designing cufflinks had become her hobby. She didn’t know if they were any good, but people at the studio kept asking if they were for sale.
She had always refused outright. They were her gifts to Vance and unique symbols of her love. And now that the love was gone, there was no point keeping them.
The staff member read the reply and suddenly understood everything that had happened with Vance and that lady. Her heart ached a little.
Rebecca was about to put her phone away and head to rehearsal when another message popped up.
