Five Years of Marriage to Mr. Bradford (by Koi Fish) novel Chapter 290

Chapter 290

Desmond watched their interaction, envious that Gabriel could openly comfort her.

It wasn’t right to feel that way, but he couldn’t help it.

Rebecca had never let herself cry freely in front of another person before.

She couldn’t cry in front of her parents because they didn’t love her. She couldn’t cry in front of Josette, fearing it would worry her.

She couldn’t cry in front of Vance, afraid of making him unhappy or adding emotional burdens to him. She had only ever tried to please him.

By the time they reached the police station, her emotions were back under control. She told the officers everything, confirming Josette had returned to Soliaridge with her parents.

She was worried that Josette leaving with her son, daughter-in-law, and grandson might not qualify as a missing-person case, so she stressed that none of the three could be reached.

The police checked the flight records and confirmed all four had arrived in Soliaridge. Rebecca gave them every phone number, and they tried without success.

The police accepted the report in the end. They told her to go home and wait, promising to contact her the second they had any news.

She thanked them, feeling a little reassured. While the police did their part, she decided to keep searching with the group.

Outside the station, she tried hailing a cab, but a car was already waiting at the curb.

A middle-aged man stepped out. “Mr. Rossi, your car is here.”

Rebecca blinked, wondering who he was referring to. Gabriel nodded to the man, then told her, “It’s a long story. I’ll explain everything later. I’m Rossi, though I prefer just Gabriel. And this is my friend, Hugo.”

He paused, seeking her opinion. “We’ll grab something to eat first, then drop Desmond off to rest. How does that sound? As for us… I was planning to stay at Josette’s place, but with everything that’s happened, it’s smarter to stay downtown. A hotel?”

Rebecca nodded, though she had zero appetite. Gabriel served her food and insisted she eat.

She picked at it without really seeing it.

“Becky, you need energy to find Josette,” he sighed, turning to Desmond. “Don’t you agree?”

“Yes,” Desmond said quickly. “When we find her, she’ll be upset to see you withering away.”

“I know you guys mean well, but I…” She hesitated. “Okay, I’ll eat.”

Once the meal was over, they followed Gabriel’s plan to drop Desmond off first. He couldn’t join them at

the hotel, feeling regretful about that. At the same time, he was worried about Josette.

“If there is any news, be sure to tell me,” he said. “I’ll keep looking too.”

He felt guilty, too, since Denise had visited Josette recently, yet Josette had still disappeared right under their noses.

“I’m sorry,” he added quietly.
