Five Years of Marriage to Mr. Bradford (by Koi Fish) novel Chapter 317

Chapter 317

That one word hit Vance hard.

The soup container slipped from his fingers and clattered on the marble floor.

After a whole month, he’d convinced himself that Rebecca was just throwing a tantrum and blowing off steam. He never imagined she’d come back still wanting a divorce.

The man always glued to her side crossed his mind, and rage rose in him.

Vance: [Is it because of him?]

Rebecca had no idea who he was referring to, but she refused to waste another second on it. Josette needed the bathroom right then, so she ignored the text and called the caregiver to help.

Vance waited for a reply that never came.

Right then, Gabriel returned, his appearance finally igniting Vance’s anger.

He charged in blind fury, but trained bodyguards moved like lightning. He never even grazed Gabriel’s clothes before they had him pinned.

Gabriel headed straight to the elevator, waving a dismissive hand. “Let him go. Don’t scare the patients and their families.”

Vance watched helplessly as the man entered the elevator. The whole process, Gabriel didn’t even glance in his direction, as if he were nothing more than a speck of dust that could be brushed off without a second thought.

The fury inside Vance roared hotter than ever. Who the hell was this guy, looking down on him like that?

Back at the company, he was still seething.

On the way to Vance’s office, Aiden caught his thunderous expression and asked about it.

Vance finally came back to reality. “Do you know the guy hovering around Rebecca?”

Aiden knew everything, including Rebecca’s return and the trouble her family had stirred. He also knew that a formidable man was helping her.

But since Vance had never brought it up, he played dumb with a blank expression.

Vance pinched his brow. “I’m losing it. Rebecca’s back, and there’s a mystery guy glued to her side. Can you find out who he is?”

Aiden didn’t have the slightest clue. He had heard many times from Catherine about how intimidating this man was, but she hadn’t really seen his face.

“I’ll dig,” Aiden replied.

Vance nodded and shut himself inside his office.

Aiden came back that evening. The door was still closed, the calls unanswered. He knocked once, then turned the knob and walked in. They’d been friends too long for formalities.

The room was filled with cigarette smoke, too thick even for a heavy smoker like Aiden. He coughed hard and rushed to crack the windows.

“Man, what is going on, smoking like that?” he croaked.

Vance remained silent, sitting rooted to the chair.

Aiden went around the desk and stood in front of him. “What happened?”

It wasn’t until Aiden’s face was inches away from his that Vance snapped out of his daze.

“Aiden…” he murmured, leaning back in his chair and furrowing his brow.

“What’s wrong?” Aiden pressed. “Whatever it is, just tell me. We’ve got your back.”

Vance paused, silent for a long time. “Rebecca is back.”
