Chapter 327

Vance fell silent, those seconds loud with guilt, because he had found workarounds to funnel money to
Catherine.
“Rebecca…” he muttered, buying time to form a response.
She skipped over that part. “I’m at Derek Sinclair’s studio buying clothes. Catherine is here, too. This dress costs $280,000. So, tell me. How did an unemployed person like her get that kind of money?”
“Hey, you’re going too far!” Catherine protested.
Rebecca ignored her and spoke into the phone. “Answer me.”
“I’m coming over. Wait for me,” Vance said.
“I said no need. You’ve been in business long enough to understand what a contract means. I don’t want this to end in court. Honor what we signed.”
“Let me come…”
“For what? To show me your bank statements?”
“…”
She ended the call, turning to Catherine. “Still want the gown?”
Catherine’s fists clenched. “I-I borrowed the money. Who says it came from Vance?”
“Really?” Rebecca raised an eyebrow. “That’s simple. Once he’s here, we’ll just check the transaction records. Everything will be clear.”
“That’s privacy. You have no right to check anything!” Catherine countered, gripping her phone.
Most of her money came through Aiden these days, but there were traces. Worse still, Sonia was still in the store. If she saw the records, that would be catastrophic.
And Vance had occasionally transferred smaller amounts to her.
Rebecca was unfazed. “You keep forgetting one small detail. I’m still his legal wife. Our joint accounts and statements are none of your concern, are they?”
“You’re getting divorced!” Catherine growled.
“Oh, I can always withdraw the petition,” Rebecca said lightly. “Doesn’t really make much difference.”
Catherine’s face flushed with anger. “You’re just after his money! Isn’t everything you’re buying today coming out of his pocket?”
“How do you keep forgetting the basics?” Rebecca sighed, shaking her head. “Me spending his money is completely legitimate. His money is mine too. It’s called community property. Looks like I’ll have to

reclaim everything again to help you remember.”
“I-I didn’t! I never touched his money!” Catherine refused to admit it, no matter what.
Rebecca didn’t argue with her. “Alright. Wait and let the statements talk.”
“Whatever!” Catherine turned around. “Sonia, let’s go! We’re not buying anything here!”
Sonia had no intention of leaving. “I still need to try on my custom piece. If you’re in a rush, you can go
first.”
“I…” Catherine was furious.
This studio was a curse, and she blamed herself for having any attachment. Why would she want to
shop here? She could buy couture anywhere else.
In a final burst of rage, she stormed out. At the same time, Rebecca went with the assistant to try on the burgundy gown.
Sonia was already dressed in her custom outfit, looking in the mirror. When Rebecca stepped out, she flashed a smile. “It looks great. This bold color suits you!”
Rebecca admired Sonia’s blue outfit. “Gorgeous! Like you’re wearing the ocean.”
