They quickly distanced themselves from Catherine, spitting, “What a liar, dragging us into her scam!”
Catherine glared at these snobbish people who had fawned over her just moments ago. Their attitudes had flipped in a flash.
One of them sneered, “You’re nothing but a homewrecker and a delusional side piece! Keep staring and see what happens!”
“Get lost!” Aiden shoved past them and pulled Catherine protectively behind him.
Sonia watched the scene with cold disdain, but tears glistened in her eyes.
Vance stood there woodenly, staring at that striking burgundy figure, as if nothing else in the world
existed.
An acquaintance pushed through the crowd and shook his hand with a hearty laugh. “No wonder your company was a guaranteed lock for the partnership! Turns out your wife is Mr. Rossi’s cousin. You didn’t say a word about it. What, with a connection like that, were you afraid we’d steal the deal?”

Vance shook the man’s hand mechanically and smiled awkwardly.
At this point, anyone could cut in line. The only one shut out was him.
“Man, you eat the steak. Just let me have a little gravy. I’ll be more than satisfied.” The man clapped Vance’s shoulder good-naturedly.
He wasn’t using much force, yet each pat felt like it was cracking Vance’s ribs and lungs apart.
Gabriel finished his welcome speech, encouraged everyone to enjoy themselves, and led Rebecca down
from the stage.
Now they were no longer the overlooked juniors. A wave of people surged forward, surrounding them. The center of the entire venue naturally became theirs.
Hugo had a small crowd around him as well. Those who preferred to stay out of the limelight simply gathered with their friends, enjoying the fine food and wine.
Vance’s group suddenly found themselves standing in an empty spot. Only a few minor business owners who hadn’t caught on lingered nearby, hoping to network.
Isabelle gave a short laugh. “The show is over. Let’s go home. There is nothing left to see.”
Vance remained motionless, his face ashen.
Aiden was livid, huffing, “I knew it. As long as Rebecca is around, nothing ever works. This is the third time. Three strikes, and you’re out. She’s bad luck!”
His words grated on Isabelle’s nerves. She had never been one to hold her tongue.
“What the hell?” she scoffed. “Blaming a woman for your incapability? When will you grow up? What is even in your head? Rubbish?”
Aiden trembled with anger, pointing at Lucas. “Are you going to control your wife or not?”
Lucas opened his mouth, but one sharp glare from Isabelle made him swallow every word. He put an arm around her instead. “Honey, for the baby’s sake, don’t get worked up.”
She pulled him behind her, facing Aiden head-on. “Am I wrong? Both previous deals fell through because Vance dragged Catherine along and got thrown out with her. And now you have the nerve to blame Rebecca for everything?”
Catherine’s face was streaked with tears. “That’s not true. I never…”
“Shut your mouth!” Isabelle roared.
“What are you shouting about? Have you no decency left?” Aiden snapped, no longer caring about his image.

He knew he couldn’t rely on Lucas to step in. That man was a coward.
Isabelle was undaunted. “You still care about decency after all this? Vance, you screwed up this third deal all by yourself. If you had treated Rebecca even a little better, the partnership would never have slipped away. Yet you blame her? Don’t you have any self-awareness about who the real ‘bad luck’ is?”
“Who are you calling bad luck?” Catherine shrieked.
“Just borrowing a phrase from Mr. Rossi: scum cheaters! Whoever it fits can wear it!” Isabelle shot back relentlessly, berating both Catherine and Vance.
