Chapter 344
Lucas felt embarrassed that Vance had been pulled into the crossfire.
He tugged at Isabelle’s sleeve. “Honey…”
“Don’t touch me! You’re just as pathetic as they are!” Isabelle snapped, remembering everything he had done for Catherine.
Catherine covered her mouth as tears rolled down her cheeks. “I was only trying to help you all.”
Those business owners nearby were bewildered. Wasn’t this supposed to be a celebration? It sounded like a domestic dispute, and it seemed the partnership was already lost.
Their plans to fawn over Vance died.
“Mr. Bradford, what’s going on here?” one of them asked.
Vance snapped back to reality. Before he could say anything, Aiden explained quickly, “It’s nothing serious. Vance and his wife just had a little argument. Couples fight all the time, right? He’ll apologize tonight, and everything will be fine.”
Those business owners nodded. Of course, couples argued and made up.
Aiden’s face lit up with an idea. He turned to Sonia and Isabelle, his tone softening. “We’ll be relying on you two.”
Isabelle narrowed her eyes. “What do you mean?”
“Rebecca gets along with you and Sonia. The rest of us are already on her blacklist. Go talk to her. Business is business. No matter how much they fight, she and Vance are still married. She can’t just let
the deal fall into someone else’s hands.”
“I don’t have the thick skin for that,” Isabelle snorted, turning to walk away.
When she glanced back and saw Lucas still standing there, she barked, “Are you coming or not?”
Lucas looked at Vance, then at Aiden, and mumbled, “Sorry, guys. It’s pregnancy temper. I’ll see you at
the office tomorrow.”
He hurried after Isabelle, and they quickly went out of sight.
Aiden fumed, then turned to Sonia. “You go talk to her.”
His tone was commanding, but Sonia didn’t want any part of this mess. She wasn’t the one who created it, nor could she fix it.
“Are you going or not?” he growled. “Your whole lifestyle depends on the company. You go up and down with it.”
She stayed silent for a moment, then said, “She wanted an apology.”

Aiden glanced at Catherine, who was still crying bitterly. “How can we ask Catherine to apologize? What did she do wrong? You’ve enjoyed all the benefits of the company. Can’t you handle a little networking?”
Sonia thought for a moment, then walked toward Rebecca.
“Wait,” Vance called out. “I’ll go. This is my mess.”
He walked step by step through the crowd. Standing beside Gabriel, Rebecca was smiling and chatting naturally with everyone who greeted her.
Elegant, composed, and glowing in that burgundy gown, she looked like a magnificent peony-more
beautiful than ever.
He finally reached her side. “Rebecca.”
She glanced at him, gave a polite nod, and smiled-the same greeting she offered every stranger.
“You look stunning tonight,” he said, feeling unusually flustered and unsure how to begin.
