At home, Vance lay sprawled on the floor, feeling like his life had never been darker.
His phone rang, cutting through the silence of the night. He jumped up and scrambled to find it. After locating it under the coffee table, he saw Aiden’s name on the screen.
He collapsed back onto the floor and answered the call.
Aiden’s urgent voice came through. “Vance! There’s something important I need to tell you.”
Vance had zero energy. “What?”
“What are you doing now? Haven’t you seen the trending topics? It’s blowing up! Gabriel’s post is stuck at number one. You need to make a statement right now!”
“Gabriel? Number one?” Vance’s mind was foggy.
While Aiden’s voice exploded in his ear, he opened the trending list and finally remembered it.
“Listen to me. The only thing you can do right now is issue a statement saying you and Rebecca have already divorced,” Aiden continued. “That way, you’re not a cheater, and Catherine isn’t a mistress. Think about the company. If this mess doesn’t die down, our stock is going to hit the bottom tomorrow.”
He rambled on, but Vance was unresponsive.
“Vance!” he shouted.
Vance, lost in the sea of hateful comments about himself, snapped back to reality. “Mm.”
“Did you hear what I said?” Aiden yelled.
“I did,” Vance answered slowly. “Issue a statement.”
“Yes! Do it right now! Hurry!”
“Okay.” Vance was already preparing to type.
Ending the call, Aiden heaved a sigh of relief. “It’s done. Vance agreed to issue the statement.”
But Catherine’s mood didn’t improve. An inexplicable dread kept pressing on her heart.
“Alright, stop overthinking it,” he added. “Take a shower, get some rest, and eat something. Everything
will look better tomorrow.”
She continued to sob quietly.
He sighed, ordered takeout, and went to shower. When he came out, the food had arrived. Before eating, he checked the trending topics again to see the effect of Vance’s statement.
There was a new entry at the top: [Vance Bradford’s Apology.]

So, Vance had indeed posted a statement, but it read:
[I’m sorry. My private matters have taken up public resources and caused a negative impact on society. I sincerely apologize to everyone. I also want to say sorry to my wife. For so many years, I have let her down. I am willing to accept any punishment. Finally, I hope you’ll stop disturbing her and her family. All the mistakes were caused by me alone. They are the victims and are innocent.]
Shocked, Aiden read it three times to make sure he hadn’t misunderstood.
Then he cried out, “Has he lost his mind?”
“W-What?” Catherine leaned over and turned pale at the content.
“I’m calling him right now!” Aiden fumed, starting to dial, but Vance didn’t pick up.
Tears streamed down Catherine’s face. “He is blaming me now. He doesn’t care about me anymore.”
Aiden mulled over the situation and found an explanation. “He is trying to get forgiveness from Rebecca and Rossi. He still wants to cooperate with Rossi Enterprises, and this is the only way.”
