However, Vance raised an objection regarding the property. Not only did he want to keep Rebecca’s original shares, but he also wanted to give her even more.
He explained that even though Gabriel and Kaitlyn had plenty, she needed her own fortune. After their separation, he hoped she would live comfortably for the rest of her life.
Rebecca thought for a moment. “Alright. Convert everything to cash at market value.”
He gave a bitter smile. “Wouldn’t keeping the shares be better? There would be annual dividends. It’s long -term income.”
“No,” she insisted. “I don’t like loose ends, and I don’t want any further connection with you. Let’s finish this quickly so we never have to see each other again. Besides, what if your company goes bankrupt?”
His smile was forced, and his voice shook. “Why do you have to be so absolute? At the very least, we’re still high school classmates living in the same city. Maybe we’ll run into each other someday.”
That was basically impossible.
“Stop talking so much nonsense,” she concluded, preparing to leave with Gabriel. “Oh, right. About the money you gave Catherine later… I’ll let that go. And since we’re divorcing, our previous agreement is now void. Marry whoever you want. Go back to Cathy.”
“I never…” he started.
She simply took Gabriel’s arm and walked away quickly. They got into the car and drove off.
He watched the car disappear, murmuring the rest of the sentence to himself, “I never planned to marry her.”
But Rebecca could no longer hear him. Even if she had, what difference would it have made?
His phone rang, and he answered.
“Where are you guys? Why isn’t anyone here?” Lucas asked anxiously.
“Us?” Vance’s mind was blank. He didn’t know who Lucas was referring to.
“You and Aiden. Neither of you are at the company. We’re having a meeting and have been waiting for almost an hour.”
“Meeting?” Vance murmured,
The sun was blazing outside, but he felt as if his brain had been frozen solid and couldn’t function.
“Come on. We’re supposed to finalize the cooperation proposal with Rossi Enterprises today, right?” Lucas said.
Vance gave a bitter laugh, realizing what was going on. Lucas had left early last night and didn’t like

gossip, so he probably had no idea what had happened afterward at the banquet.
“Cancel it.”
“What?”
“Cancel the meeting. No need to hold it.”
He no longer had the nerve to submit any proposal to Rossi Enterprises.
“Vance…”
“Give up. We’re not struggling anymore.”
He hung up and drove toward the company. As usual, he parked in the underground garage. But the moment he stepped out of the car, a group of people pointed at him.
“That’s him! The guy from last night’s trending topic-Vance Bradford, the boss of the company in Building A!”
“The cheating scumbag?”
“Yeah, that’s him!”
“What are we waiting for? Get him!”
Vance was suddenly bombarded with trash. He didn’t even know these people.
Someone had emptied the garbage bin and started throwing everything at him. Stinking garbage hit his face, body, and head.
“You…” As soon as he opened his mouth, a foul-smelling clump smashed into his mouth.
The stench was overwhelming. He couldn’t help grabbing the pillar and starting to vomit.
