Aiden assumed Sonia had taken their son along to help her sick mother return to their hometown, so he
didn’t think much of it.
He simply changed his clothes and headed straight to the company. When he arrived, Vance was standing at the front desk.
“Vance, what are you doing here?” Aiden asked, half-joking. “Playing greeter today? Anything important to announce in this meeting?”
“Go up first,” Vance said, his eyes locked on a car pulling up outside.
Rebecca stepped out, and he quickly walked over.
Aiden glanced back and muttered, “Really playing greeter.”
Rebecca was surprised to see Vance waiting there. “What could make you stand out here waiting in person, Mr. Bradford?”
He looked a little embarrassed, and she smirked. “Afraid I’d get burned to death on the way?” 1
His face flushed red, then turned pale. She walked past him and went straight into the building.
The receptionist had been replaced. It was someone Rebecca didn’t know.
She greeted Rebecca. “Hello…”
Vance caught up from behind. “She’s with me.”
The receptionist nodded politely and held the elevator for them.
Rebecca felt a strange sense of irony. In the past five years, Vance had been so busy that he had never once come down to pick her up. He hadn’t even had time to reply to her messages.
Back then, she had wondered if her messages were too trivial and were disturbing his important work.
After Catherine came back, it wasn’t just messages. Whenever Catherine needed him, he would drop everything and rush to her side.
He hadn’t really been that busy. He simply hadn’t cared.
How long did it take to reply to a message? One second? Two?
It was the same with Rebecca and Josette. No matter how busy she was, if Josette messaged her, she would reply or call back immediately, regardless of the nature of the matter.
She stayed silent in the elevator. Vance tried to speak, but each time, she’d pull out her phone and look at it, cutting him off.
Finally, when she put her phone back in her bag, he seized the chance. “Are you really that busy? You’ve

been on your phone the whole time.”
She nodded. “Didn’t I tell you? Gabriel is throwing a party for me tonight. He’s been discussing details with me.”
His face visibly darkened. “He seems pleased about our divorce.”
She nodded again. “Aren’t you?”
“…”
“Oh, right. Gabriel said if you’re interested, you’re welcome to come. We could celebrate it together.”
Vance was speechless.
What kind of absurd situation was this? Gabriel was hosting a party to congratulate Rebecca on the divorce?
“Are you really so happy about us getting divorced?” Vance couldn’t wrap its head around it. “You used to love me so much. Why are you…”
“Stop,” she cut him off. “Can we please not bring up the dark history anymore?”
“Dark history?” He didn’t understand the term.
“Yes,” she confirmed. “The fact that I was blind and loved you is the darkest history of my
life.”
The elevator doors opened, and she stepped out, unwilling to reminisce for another second. She didn’t know what their shared past meant to Vance, but for her, it only brought pain.
She went straight to the conference room. Several board members were already seated, looking shocked when she walked in.
They knew she was a shareholder, but she had barely attended a board meeting before.
The meeting began, but Vance kept stalling and refused to get to the point.
Rebecca couldn’t hold back any longer. She spoke directly. “I’ll say it, Mr. Bradford and I are divorced. I’m here today to complete the share transfer. The shares I hold will be transferred to him. Does anyone have any objections?”
