Five Years of Marriage to Mr. Bradford (by Koi Fish) novel Chapter 363

Chapter 363

That only irritated Rebecca further. She stepped out of the elevator. “Fine. Ride it as you like. I’ll take another one.”

“Rebecca!” Vance felt helpless. He grabbed her shoulders and gently pushed her back into the elevator.” I just want to walk you out.”

“There’s no need.” She reached for the button.

He knew she would respond that way, so he quickly held the door open. “Then at least take me off your blacklist so I can send you the documents.”

She did it right in front of him. “Is that enough? Don’t contact me unless it’s necessary.”

He knew he had to stop there. Pushing any further would only make her hate him more. He could only watch helplessly as the doors closed and the digits decreased.

Inside the elevator, Rebecca kept pressing a hand to her chest.

Over the past five years, countless thorns had accumulated there, always causing dull pain. Sometimes they would stab deeper and make her heart bleed.

She had thought it would take a long time to pull out every thorn, but it didn’t. Today, when she touched that spot, she felt no pain anymore.

So, it would hurt only when she loved someone. When pain vanished, so was love.

That was good. She didn’t love Vance anymore. They were finally done.

When she stepped out of the elevator, however, she saw Lucas waiting for her. He looked a little awkward. “Rebecca, do you have time for a cup of coffee?”

“No,” she said flatly, having no good feelings toward any of Vance’s friends.

She walked away, but he caught up and blocked her path again. “Just a few words.”

She stopped and looked at him.

These people were really strange. When she was Vance’s wife, they badmouthed her every day and hoped she would get divorced. Now that she did that, they kept approaching her.

“I know you hate us,” Lucas said, “We didn’t respect you before and said a lot of bad things. That was all our fault. Vance never said those things. Please don’t blame him.”

So, he thought she divorced Vance because of them.

He sighed and continued, “I know you don’t like Catherine. She was his first love, but they broke up ages ago. Now she’s just a friend. I can vouch for that. We always hang out as a group. I saw that photo on the trending list. I was there that day, and so was Aiden. They weren’t alone together at all. They didn’t do anything.”

“Are you done?” Rebecca said calmly.

He insisted, “Vance really doesn’t have any other intentions. He told us more than once that he wanted to spend his whole life with you.”

She walked away, tired of hearing that sentence. Who wanted a rotten lifetime like that?

Gabriel had sent a driver to pick her up. The moment she left the building, she saw the car waiting at the curb.

She got in and went straight home, unwilling to stay there for another second.

When she arrived home, Gabriel had already decorated the house beautifully. She hadn’t lied to Vance; Gabriel really was throwing her a party.

The house was filled with fresh flowers, balloons, and all kinds of sparkling decorations. The guests had arrived; they were Vivian, Desmond, Helia, and Jenny. 3

Gabriel had told her to invite them, saying that joy should be shared. That was fine. Who said only weddings were happy occasions? Divorce could be, too.

Gabriel had ordered a three-tier cake and lit a candle. The card on it read: [Congrats on Your New Beginning, Becky.]
