Chapter 364
Amid the music, they pushed the cake toward Rebecca, all beaming with joy.
“I thought you were going to sing Happy Birthday,” Rebecca chuckled.
“We can do that, too,” Gabriel said, helping Josette come downstairs.
The old lady looked a little fuller than a few days ago, but she had been through hell. Recovery wouldn’t happen overnight. She was still weak, but her gaze was as gentle as ever.
It was a pleasant evening. Although it was just a home party, it felt much warmer than any formal business banquet. And the food prepared by Gabriel was delicious.
After dinner, Rebecca sat on the sofa next to Josette while the others gathered around, chatting about all kinds of topics.
Although her friends hadn’t known each other before, they quickly became comfortable and got along wonderfully.
Josette sat beside them and didn’t feel out of place. She enjoyed listening to them talk, and no one felt constrained by her presence. The conversation flowed happily.
Desmond and Helia shared stories from their performance tour in Europe. Since Jenny and Rebecca were high school classmates, Jenny talked about what Rebecca had been like back then.
Desmond was surprised by those facts.
The conversation eventually turned to fashion, which was Vivian’s comfort zone, and the discussion became lively.
Gabriel took care of everything behind the scenes, making sure everyone had food and drinks. This kind of life was heavenly. It was so much better than staying home waiting for a man who might not even
come back.
When it ended, everyone was reluctant to leave, But since it was getting late, they didn’t want to disturb
Josette’s rest.
Gabriel arranged for cars to send them home,
“It’s fine. I drove here, but could you come out for a moment?” Desmond said to him. “Helia and I have a gift for Rebecca that’s still in the car.”
Rebecca’s sharp instincts picked up the hint. This guy had something to say to Gabriel in private.
“Sure,” Gabriel agreed readily.

Rebecca walked them to the door, but they wouldn’t let her go any farther and told her to go back inside to keep Josette company.
Josette was still sitting in the living room where Gabriel had replaced all the lights with warm ones.

Under the soft golden glow and with the vintage furniture, Josette sat smiling at her.
The whole scene felt incredibly warm. Rebecca went over and hugged her. “Grandma.”
Josette reached out and stroked her hair. “Sweetheart, are you really happy?”
Rebecca nodded. “Yeah, very.”
“That’s good.” Josette breathed a sigh of relief. “You’re braver than I was. Brave children will be happy.”
“Yeah!” Rebecca nodded again, sure of it.
She had no idea what Gabriel and Desmond were talking about. Together with Nancy, she helped Josette wash up and get ready for bed.
Only after Josette was settled did she return to her room. The busy day had finally quieted down.
She took out her phone, only to find that Jenny had already posted about tonight’s celebratory dinner on social media, captioned: [Congratulations to Rebecca on her new beginning.]
The photo showed Rebecca surrounded by her friends behind a cake. In the candlelight, her smile was
radiant.
However, one comment stood out and made her frown.
[What are you all doing? Why is that pretty boy there, too?]
