Five Years of Marriage to Mr. Bradford (by Koi Fish) novel Chapter 372

Chapter 372

Aiden didn’t understand what Isabelle meant.

Lucas was equally confused. “Honey, what are you talking about?”

“What am I talking about?” Isabelle let out a cold laugh. “Aiden, you can drop the innocent act. I have no interest in disciplining someone else’s husband. But whether you’re still Sonia’s husband or not, that’s becoming questionable.”

Aiden frowned. “What the hell do you mean?”

“Have you even noticed how long Sonia has been gone?” she asked, studying his face. “Figures. You’ve barely been home lately.”

All these men were scum.

Aiden’s eyes narrowed. “If you’ve got something to say, just say it!”

Isabelle’s eyes stung with unshed tears, but she forced them back. “Her mom passed away.’

Aiden’s mind went blank. He then remembered the message Sonia had sent him, saying her mother wasn’t doing well and asking him to come to the hospital.

Lucas was stunned. “This is serious. Why didn’t you tell me?”

“What good would telling you do? You’re all the same!” Isabelle snapped, turning on her heel and striding

toward the elevator.

He hurried after her, trying to defend himself. “I’m not a scumbag! I didn’t…”

“Shut up! Birds of a feather flock together. You’re all cut from the same rotten cloth!” she yelled, stepping

into the elevator.

Lucas followed her inside, trying to say more when he noticed the red rims of her eyes.

“How is she doing now? Something this big should have been shared with us. How has she been holding up all by herself?” Lucas sighed, knowing the two women were close.

They often chatted and went shopping together, unlike Rebecca, who mostly kept to herself.

“Us? Who exactly? Aiden?” she scoffed.

“Yeah, Aiden is…” He stopped mid-sentence when he caught the cold glint in her eyes.

Her chest rose and fell with anger. “Did she have to tell him? As a husband and a son-in-law, doesn’t he have any sense of responsibility at all? If he cared even a little about her, wouldn’t he have known? His mother-in-law was in the hospital fighting for her life, and he had no idea?”

He paused, then sighed. “You should have at least told me, I could have helped her run errands or whatever a man could do.”

Isabelle remained silent, her heart aching. It wasn’t that she hadn’t wanted to tell them, but Sonia’s voice had been eerily calm on the phone. “Izzy, I don’t have a mom anymore.”

Isabelle had immediately wanted to rush over. Sonia said her mother’s body had already been cremated and that she was already on the way back to her hometown to bury the ashes.

Isabelle had asked the same question. “Why didn’t you tell me sooner? I could have helped.”

Sonia had calmly replied that there was no need. She had handled the cremation and left. Isabelle understood why she had waited until everything was done before notifying her.

There were two reasons.

First, she had been totally disappointed by Aiden. Their marriage had never been happy.

Aiden had never stopped seeing other women, but because Sonia’s mother had been ill for years and she had quit her job early, she had limited financial independence.

Aiden had used that to keep her trapped. It was imaginable how devastated she must have felt when her mother died.

Second, Sonia knew Isabelle was pregnant and didn’t want to upset her.

Even at her lowest point, Sonia had still been so considerate. But why couldn’t someone so good be

treated with the kindness she deserved?
