Five Years of Marriage to Mr. Bradford (by Koi Fish) novel Chapter 373

Chapter 373

Even after the couple left, those words echoed in Aiden’s mind.

With a frown, he pulled out his phone to call Sonia. The line went through quickly this time.

“Where are you?” he demanded.

“At home,” she replied, accompanied by their son’s chatter in the background.

Aiden relaxed, knowing she couldn’t cause any real trouble. Remembering her mother’s passing, he asked, “About your mom…”

“It’s already taken care of,” she replied, her tone remarkably

calm.

“I…” He hesitated. “Why didn’t you tell me?”

“You were busy. I didn’t want to disturb you, so I handled it myself.”

“Alright. I’ll come home early tonight. Have the housekeeper make dinner and wait for me.”

Losing a mother was a serious matter. He should go back and check on her.

She hung up without replying.

Aiden noticed Vance had stepped out of the office and was staring at him. Catherine stood nearby, also

watching.

“Is she alright?” Catherine asked worriedly.

Aiden shrugged. “Nothing serious. She just went to her hometown to handle her mom’s funeral arrangements. She is already back.”

“You should head home,” Vance said seriously. “Losing a parent isn’t a small thing. Sonia says she doesn’t blame you, but it may not be how she feels.”

Aiden brushed it off. “You’re wrong there. Unlike Rebecca, she’s the most understanding wife one could ask for. She even said she understood how busy I was and didn’t want to trouble me.”

Vance shook his head. “Are you sure she wasn’t just being sarcastic?”

“No way. I know her,” Aiden said dismissively. “Without me, she couldn’t survive. She wouldn’t dare leave me. Who else would support her?”

“I used to think the same way,” Vance sighed.

“I’m different from you,” Aiden said smugly, patting his shoulder. “Can’t spoil them. You throw money around like it’s nothing, while I only give her a fixed allowance every month. If she wants something, she uses my credit card as an authorized user. No extra cash. To control someone, you first control their financial lifeline.”

He turned away and waved smartly over his shoulder. “Bye. You guys enjoy your night. I’m heading home to check on her.”

Vance and Catherine were left standing in the hallway.

“Vance…” Catherine began, her voice full of grievance. “Aiden was planning to invite you out for dinner. Do you have time?”

He looked at her, his mind replaying Isabelle’s harsh words earlier.

“Is it so hard to admit you’re a scumbag? All those excuses are just to cover up your infidelity. Whether it was emotional or physical, it was cheating. If you openly admitted it, I might still respect you as a man. Cheating, then pretending to be devoted?”

When he didn’t respond, Catherine forced a smile. “It’s okay if you’re busy. I can eat by myself. I’ll be fine.”

Her tone was understanding, but she looked aggrieved.

In a trance, he nodded. “Okay.”

She froze, not understanding what he meant.

“Well then, I’ll head back on my own. You don’t need to see me out,” she said, on the verge of crying.
