Five Years of Marriage to Mr. Bradford (by Koi Fish) novel Chapter 380

Chapter 380

“You should go find Sonia,” Vance suggested. “Don’t end up like me, regretting everything when it’s too late.”

“No way!” Aiden waved it off. “If you’re not coming, I’ll go by myself. Boring.”

Aiden ended up spending the night with several middle-aged men in the flashing lights and loud music, living it up with girls on each arm.

When he finally stumbled out in the wee hours, his phone was ringing. His mother had called more than

ten times.

When he answered, she told him she wasn’t feeling well and would be coming to Soliaridge the next day to see a doctor.

Deeply drunk, he mumbled in agreement.

The following day, he remembered the call, but Sonia wasn’t home.

He needed to get her back, calling her without hesitation. Sonia answered, but her voice was cold. “Hello?

“My mom is coming today,” he started. “Says she’s not feeling well. Where are you? Get back here and take her to the hospital. We don’t know if she’ll need to be admitted.”

He sounded casual, as if Sonia had simply stepped out for groceries.

At that moment, she was standing on the tea hills. Her heart sank at his demanding tone.

She had been married to him for four years. She had quit her job and devoted herself to being the woman behind him-bearing his child and caring for his parents.

Her mother had been in poor health, yet she had still shouldered the responsibility of looking after Aiden’s mother, who ended up in the hospital twice a year.

His mother was difficult and refused to have a caregiver, insisting that Sonia handle everything personally.

Shane was little and needed attention. Even with a housekeeper, she couldn’t completely step back from her responsibilities as a mother,

For four years, she had worked harder for him and this family than if she had held three jobs, yet she had

never received a single word of appreciation. In his mind, everything she did was simply expected.

Even now, after she had asked for a divorce, he still acted like it was no big deal, treating her as the same

obedient woman he could order around.

“Are you listening? What are you doing?” Aiden grew impatient.

“I’m not going,” Sonia replied, cold and resolute.

“Look, I’m giving you an out here,” he said arrogantly. “You’d better take it while you can. Don’t be ungrateful and make me lose patience. Then even if you come crawling back later, I won’t be so nice.”

Her blood ran cold. “I told you, I’m not coming back. I’ve already filed for divorce. You’ll receive the papers soon.”

“Are you serious?”

“I’ve never been more serious. I don’t want to be with you anymore. That’s all.”

She hung up the phone, and a few minutes later, a notification from the bank arrived. Her card had been

canceled.

Since their marriage, she had only ever used Aiden’s credit card as an authorized user. On holidays and birthdays, he would send her money, and every month he gave her a modest allowance. That was it.

A message from him followed: [I don’t care where you are. You have one day to come back and fix this.]

She shut her eyes, feeling bitter inside.

This was the man she had been blind enough to choose. He wouldn’t even leave her a way to survive,

and he hadn’t even considered their son.

But she no longer had to rely on him to live. Over the four years, she had saved a small amount by living frugally. In addition, with her mother gone and her being the only child, the insurance payout and

benefits had all come to her.

In the end, she had to depend on money from her mother’s death to get through this difficult time. The realization made her heart ache with unbearable sorrow.
