Chapter 385

Vance didn’t answer.

The hostility he had shown toward Gabriel earlier had vanished. His eyes now held only endless pain and reluctance as he gazed at Rebecca inside the car.

She didn’t turn around, but she heard Gabriel’s words. Abandoning her had always been Vance’s standard procedure, hadn’t it?

The only difference was that the heart that had once been whipped raw by his countless abandonments now felt absolutely nothing.

“Gabriel, there’s no need to waste time on him. Let’s go,” she urged from inside the car.

Gabriel roughly understood what was going on. He smirked, adding one last mocking remark. “Good luck, Mr. Bradford.”

Vance didn’t understand what Gabriel meant by that. He stood there dazed as Gabriel got into the car and drove away.

Gabriel always seemed like he knew everything, and his words now must be suggesting something.

Lucas rushed out, only to catch a glimpse of the taillights before the car disappeared. He stamped his foot in frustration. “Damn it! Why didn’t you stop Mr. Rossi? You should have talked to him properly.”

Vance didn’t respond. “Give me the keys. I’m borrowing your car.”

Lucas handed them over while still pressing anxiously, “Did you bring up the company matters with him?”

Vance took the keys and got into the car.

“Hey, where are you going? If you take the car, how am I supposed to get back?” Lucas shouted after the

exhaust.

In the blink of an eye, Vance had driven off and vanished.

Lucas trudged back to the tea table, still preoccupied with company matters. He told Corey, “Next time that gentleman comes to buy tea, please let me know.”

Isabelle rolled her eyes. “What are you planning? Trying to help Vance win Rebecca back? Don’t be stupid.

“I’m not.” Lucas looked genuinely worried. “Mr. Rossi didn’t reject my invitation earlier. He said we could have dinner another day. Doesn’t that mean our company still has a chance? I have to keep working on it.

“You’re the only one still trying to run the business,” Isabelle muttered under her breath.

Rebecca and Gabriel returned home with the tea and found Josette packing. They smiled at the same time.

Ever since her visa had been approved, Josette had been packing every day, carefully deciding what to bring abroad. Gabriel had told her she didn’t need to bring anything; his mother had already prepared everything on the other side.

Josette told him that she wasn’t packing daily necessities. She was choosing things to bring to Kaitlyn,

but it was far more than just a few items.

She wanted to bring every local snack and specialty from Soliaridge’s streets and alleys.

“These are all things Kaitlyn loved when she was little,” she had said.

Rebecca walked in and saw Josette busy in the dining room. She sneaked up, wrapped her arms around Josette’s waist, and asked playfully, “What treats are you making for Aunt Kaitlyn this time?”

Josette turned around, grabbed her, and laughed. “Making fun of me again?”

“Not at all,” Rebecca grinned. “I wish you’d pack even more. Gabriel will be the porter anyway. I can tag along and still enjoy delicacies in that so-called food desert of a city.”

“Food desert?” Josette paused, glancing at Gabriel. “No wonder your cousin is so thin. Is it because he hasn’t been eating well?”

“Grandma, I’m not thin,” Gabriel chuckled. “This build is popular with girls. Even if the food abroad isn’t as good as in Soliaridge, I won’t starve.”

She zeroed in on the first part. “So, where are all these girls?”
