Five Years of Marriage to Mr. Bradford (by Koi Fish) novel Chapter 387

Chapter 387

Catherine stressed her tone when she said the word “wedding”. Her eyes were locked on Rebecca, filled with provocation and triumph.

Vance shook all over, cautiously glancing at Rebecca. “I…”

She gave a half-smile. “Getting married? Congratulations. When’s the big day?”

His face drained of color. “It’s not like that. Listen to me…”

“What’s the fuss?” she cut him off. “Worried about that contract we signed?”

“What contract?” Catherine chimed in, dragging the long train of her gown over.

“Oh,” Rebecca hummed, “it’s an agreement between Mr. Bradford and me. You can ask him about it.”

She turned to Vance. “Aren’t you being a little too impatient? Shouldn’t you at least wait until we get the divorce certificate?”

Catherine immediately put on a pitiful act. “Rebecca, you’re not going back on your word, are you? Please, let him go. He’s already suffered for five whole years. Why wouldn’t you just set him free?”

“Why don’t you ask him yourself?” Rebecca countered, staring at Vance. “Who exactly is refusing to let go? Please, try harder. Get him to agree to finalize the divorce once the cooling-off period ends.”

“How is that possible?” Catherine protested. “It’s you using your disability to keep him around. He’s so kind-hearted. Of course, he couldn’t bear to divorce you. Please, stop holding onto him, okay?”

At that moment, what bothered Rebecca most wasn’t the news of their wedding. It was the fact that she had always kept things peaceful in front of Josette.

Even though Josette knew the marriage was falling apart and they were going through a divorce, Rebecca had never let her witness the ugly reality.

She was afraid Josette would get upset. So, she intended to end this embarrassing scene as soon as possible, then explain things to Josette.

“Enough! Stop disgusting me! Just because you like collecting trash doesn’t mean everyone else does!” she snapped, steering Josette toward the exit.

Vance moved in front of her, looking tense. “Rebecca, I had no choice.”

“Get lost!” she yelled, unwilling to waste another breath on him.

Without a choice, he turned to Josette and pleaded, “Grandma…”

The old lady trembled with anger and pressed her lips together. He bowed. “I’m sorry. It’s all my fault. Please don’t be mad.”

Catherine hurried over, lifting the hem of her dress, and tried to pull him up. “Vance, get up. You don’t

owe her anything. Even if she saved you, you’ve already repaid her with five years of your youth and countless amounts of money. You’re even now.”

“Shut up!” he bellowed.

She looked at him in disbelief. “You’re yelling at me? For her?”

Ignoring her, he spoke with deep remorse. “I remember our contract. I’m sorry I broke it, but I promise to give you all the assets. Once the cooling-off period ends, we’ll go get the divorce certificate.”

“What? You’re giving her all the assets?” Catherine shrieked. “What about me? What about our child? Are you going to let us starve?”

It turned out she was pregnant.

Rebecca hadn’t been wrong that day at the clinic the other day when she sarcastically congratulated him. His infertile darling was finally pregnant.

The smirk on her face was glaring. Still bowing, Vance turned ashen. “Please, let me explain…”

What was there left to say?
