Chapter 397

At the hospital, Vance went to pay the fees while Aiden and Catherine waited.

Catherine looked unhappy. “Vance is so stubborn. Does he really plan to give all the assets to Rebecca? The divorce agreement Rebecca sent didn’t even mention that. She doesn’t ask for it, but he insists on giving it.”

“He’s giving his personal assets,” Aiden said quietly. “With the company running, we can still make money. Don’t see the wood for the trees. Let him finalize the divorce first. If we drag this out, the baby will be born without a legitimate father.”

She looked troubled. “Does it have to be this way? Do you think he might…”

Just then, Vance returned. “Alright, time for the check-up.”

The two immediately stopped talking. The examination showed everything was fine, and they left the hospital.

In the car, Catherine asked, “Where should we go for dinner? I’m hungry.”

Behind the wheel, Vance muttered absent-mindedly. “Wherever you want. I’ll drop you off.”

“You’re not eating with me?”

“I still have some things to do.”

She sulked, but he kept driving, not sensing anything wrong. She grew even angrier but had to break the silence. If she didn’t initiate, he probably wouldn’t say a word until they reached their destination.

“I can’t keep eating irregularly like this,” she said, turning back. “Pregnant women need nutrition. I can’t live on takeout and restaurant food all the time.”

He paused. “Should I hire a housekeeper to cook for you?”

She whined, “Can’t you come to my place after work?”

He hesitated. “I-I don’t have time. A lot of things have been going on at the company.”

“You’d rather zone out in the office than come to me? I don’t even know what’s keeping you so busy,” she cried. “Don’t you care about the baby or me at all?”

He glanced at her belly and said nothing.

“What do you mean?” She cried even louder. “If you don’t like it, I’ll just terminate my pregnancy.”

Aiden winked at her, and Vance stopped the car. “Are you sure?”

“I…” She was at a loss for words.

“You had a hard time getting pregnant. This baby wasn’t easy to conceive. If you don’t want it, I’ll respect

your decision,” Vance said seriously.

After a long pause, she opened the car door. “I’m getting out! If you don’t care, then don’t bother with us anymore!”

“You’re really not going after her?” Aiden asked tentatively.

“You go. See what she’s up to.” Vance frowned slightly.

Aiden sighed, “Alright. I’ll go check on her.”

He got out and caught up with Catherine.

Vance watched, then turned the car around and headed in the opposite direction. He wanted to visit an old place and see if there was anyone left.

Had that person really disappeared just like that?

Standing in front of Catherine, Aiden sighed heavily, “Can you stop being so willful? This baby was hard

to conceive. You should cherish it.”

“I should just terminate it,” she sulked. “No one wants them anyway!”

“Who said no one wants them?” He steadied her. “Calm down and think about the future. Endure this for

now. The company and the assets will be ours.”
