“Mr. Hodge has arrived,” Wade said, standing up to greet Aiden.

Hugo smiled at him as well.

Several other executives from partner companies were also present. They seemed to be here to discuss future cooperation and attend the upcoming press conference.

Aiden stepped forward and shook hands with them. Their normal, polite attitude eased his worries.

Before long, Hugo took the stage to deliver the opening speech. “Mr. Rossi was supposed to host everyone, but a family emergency caught him. So, I’m here on his behalf. I hope you can understand.”

By now, almost everyone present had heard rumors about the poisoning. From Hugo’s words, they guessed it was true, though no one dared say it out loud.

The Rossi family was huge, and Gabriel was the only American descendant in his branch. If something happened to him, the family leadership would shift, and the company might abandon its plans for Soliaridge.

Hugo then announced the start of the luncheon.

Aiden hadn’t eaten or slept well these past few days. He finally felt like he could enjoy a proper meal.

He sat with Wade and struck up a conversation. “Mr. Nolan, you’re still quite young. You haven’t been in this industry for very long, have you?”

“No,” Wade replied modestly. “I started by interning at your company. Later, when I started my own firm, I got lucky and was selected by Rossi Enterprises.”

More people gathered around, flattering him. “Young and talented! Your future is limitless!”

Wade smiled humbly, praising Aiden. “Mr. Hodge is the real deal in our industry. I learned a lot while working at his company.”

The crowd laughed. “You used to work as an employee?”

They tried hard to curry favor with Wade, since his company had been chosen by Rossi Enterprises as the partner.

Aiden felt a surge of jealousy and sneered inwardly. “What a joke! The higher you lift him now, the harder he’ll fall.”

When Hugo wasn’t around, some people couldn’t resist bringing up the rumor.

Wade hesitated. “About that… I really don’t know.”

Aiden chuckled, and someone asked, “Mr. Hodge, do you know something?”

“I don’t know about Mr. Rossi’s situation, but Mr. Bradford…” he sighed.
