Chapter 434
The flattery made Aiden feel immensely pleased. He knew these were empty words, but who didn’t enjoy hearing them?
He watched Hugo networking with the various company representatives and sneered inwardly.
Soon, the press conference started, and reporters swarmed in. He had heard the event would be livestreamed. It was going to be quite a show.
When everyone had eaten their fill, the staff came to invite them to take their seats for the press conference.
Once inside the hall, Aiden looked around. Name cards marked every seat, but his seat was not in the front row.
The two people who had just been praising him were seated on the side, but still ahead of him.
“Mr. Hodge, your seat is over here!” one of them said, clueless or deliberate.
Just moments ago, the same man had fawned all over him. Aiden sat down, simmering with anger.
The front row was reserved for important figures-high-ranking officials and the partners Rossi Enterprises had
selected.
Aiden sneered inwardly. “The more heavyweight the guests, the better.”
He’d like to see how Hugo would handle this.
The hall gradually filled up, and the press conference began. Aiden turned his head and spotted Catherine lurking among the media crowd.
He mouthed, “What are you doing here?”
That was a meaningless question. Of course, she had come to watch the show.
She hated Rossi with every fiber of her being and would like to see Rossi Enterprises discredited.
The emcee took the stage and announced the start of the press conference.
After the officials delivered the opening speeches, Rossi Enterprises was supposed to present its vision and plans.
Everyone was expecting Rossi, but it was Hugo who took the stage and delivered a long, impressive speech.
Next was the Q&A session. Aiden smirked and waited eagerly for the fun.
A reporter stood up and asked, “Mr. Ballard, this is Rossi Enterprises’ first public appearance, livestreamed online and much anticipated. It’s such an important event. Why isn’t Mr. Rossi here?”
Prepared for that question, Hugo nodded politely. “Mr. Rossi had a small emergency, so…”
“What kind of emergency could be more important than this press conference?” the reporter interrupted. “Rossi Enterprises is establishing itself in Soliaridge and has received attention and welcome from millions of people here. We’ve even offered many preferential policies to welcome patriots back home. Yet Mr. Rossi casually skips such an important event. Does that mean he lacks sincerity? Is his patriotism just an image?”
This heavy accusation caused many faces to darken.
The media held the pen, and with self-media outlets everywhere, there was no telling how this clip would be twisted and spread.

Hugo seemed momentarily at a loss. He could only manage, “Mr. Rossi is not that kind of person.”
The reporter pressed, “It’s not judged by what you say but by what he does. Mr. Rossi hasn’t shown us any sincerity.”
