Chapter 437
The security guard frowned. “That’s exactly why we can’t let you leave. What if something happens to you on the way? We’ll call 911 for you.”
Catherine cursed under her breath and tried to bolt past the guard, hoping to hide in the bathroom until the police left.
But it was too late. The officers had already reached her.
“Excuse me, are you Catherine Welch?” one of them asked.
Her face drained of color, and she shook her head frantically. “No. You’ve got the wrong person.”
“Your ID, please,” the officer pressed.
She clutched her bag. “I-I don’t remember.”
But everyone had to enter their ID to get into the venue. The lie obviously didn’t hold up.
The guard suggested facial recognition, finally driving her to the edge. She turned and screamed, “Aiden, save me! Aiden!”
The man nearly lost his mind. This crazy woman was dragging him down with her.
He dramatically pulled her into a hug and wailed, “But no matter what, you’re still our best friend. Don’t worry. I’ll hire the best lawyers for you. Just cooperate with the investigation and tell the truth. We won’t abandon you, but you need to help yourself first.”
Catherine understood the implication. He would try to save her, but if she said anything she shouldn’t, he would sit by and watch her rot in prison.
He could go down with her or just silence her to get out of it.
He turned to the officers and pleaded, “She is pregnant. Please be gentle with her and make sure she takes care of herself.”
Catherine understood the hint. Her pregnancy made her eligible for bail, but she needed to behave. She hated it, but he was the only person she could rely on now, even though he was a viper.
