Chapter 440
With that, Vance stepped down from the stage and left with Lucas.
Hugo returned to the stage and steered the press conference back to Rossi Enterprises’ plans and vision. The reporters’ questions finally focused on the company’s development, their voices echoing from the microphones.
Vance quickened his pace. None of this had anything to do with him anymore.
Lucas chased after him and scrambled into the passenger seat, panting heavily. After catching his breath, he closed his eyes and began crying like a child.
Vance remained silent and impassive as he drove on. Lucas kept on crying until the car pulled up at the company building, following him into the conference room.
Vance’s office was sealed off as a crime scene, waiting for the police to collect evidence.
Lucas couldn’t stand being alone right now. His fragile heart needed comfort, but Vance opened his laptop and started working.
He plopped down heavily in the seat opposite Vance, unable to hold back. He cried out, “Why? Why did things turn out like this?”
Vance’s fingers paused on the keyboard, then continued typing.
Lucas kept crying with his eyes closed. “Why? We swore brotherhood. We promised to share the good times and the bad and to go through thick and thin together! Why did Aiden change?”
