Five Years of Marriage to Mr. Bradford (by Koi Fish) novel Chapter 443

Chapter 443

Vance had come to see her off.

All he had needed was her passport number to look up her flight information. After all, they had once been the closest people in each other’s lives. On some booking apps, they were still listed as family.

Even though their marriage had ended, he couldn’t bring himself to remove that connection. It felt like as long as it stayed there, there was still a thin thread tying them together.

He walked toward her, trying hard to force a smile. However, his facial muscles were stiff, making that impossible.

“I-I came to see Grandma off,” he stammered.

Josette silently shook her head. Everyone knew who he had truly come for.

“Grandma…” He stood in front of her, not daring to meet Rebecca’s eyes. “Take good care of yourself out there.”

He didn’t dare to face Rebecca directly, but as memories flooded back, raw emotion rose in his chest.

His voice cracked as he continued, “Thank you for loving me all those years. I’m sorry I failed your trust and hurt Rebecca. I’ll never have the chance to take care of you again.”

Rebecca stepped in. “This is my grandma. I’ll take care of her, and you don’t have to bother.”

He paused, unable to argue about that. She was right. It really had nothing to do with him anymore because they were divorced.

Her only request after the divorce was that they never see each other again. If they did happen to cross paths, they should treat each other like strangers.

The heart that had risen to his throat fell back down into an endless abyss…

He didn’t leave right away. Instead, he sat in his car in the parking lot, staring blankly at the blue sky and the planes taking off and landing.

Several hours passed. Only when a Virgin Atlantic plane lifted into the sky did his eyes finally focus. That must be their flight.

The weather was perfect. The sky was a clear, almost transparent blue. The sunlight was bright and dazzling.

“Rebecca, take care,” he murmured, squinting against the light.

His eyes burned, and when he touched the corner, his fingertips came away wet. The sunlight was simply too harsh.
