Chapter 444
Rebecca quickly settled into her new life.
Kaitlyn’s house was near a park, with a beautiful environment and fresh air. There were gardens in both the front and back-perfect for Josette.
The household was simple with just Kaitlyn, Gabriel, and a few staff members. Before they arrived, the rooms had already been prepared.
Josette’s room was on the first floor with large floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the garden.
Rebecca’s room was on the second floor with a spacious terrace that held a coffee table, fresh flowers, and even a swing. The interior was decorated in an elegant style that perfectly matched her taste.
Kaitlyn was delighted and took Rebecca on a tour of the house, linking arms with her. “I always wanted a daughter. Now I finally have one.”
In truth, Rebecca hadn’t had much interaction with Kaitlyn before. From what she had seen of Gabriel, she knew Kaitlyn would treat her and Josette well, but she hadn’t expected this level of warmth.
It made sense for Josette, who was her mother, but Rebecca was just her niece. Kaitlyn had even prepared a small house for Rebecca near the school.
She whispered, “This is for you. Don’t tell Gabriel.”
Gabriel overheard it and laughed. “Why hide it from me? Afraid I’ll be jealous of her?”
Then he turned to Rebecca. “My mom is so biased. When I was little, I wanted a nice room, but she said boys should just be clean and tidy. What did I need all that stuff for? When I went to college, I wanted a place near campus, and she told me to earn it myself.”
Kaitlyn chuckled. “Nonsense.”
