Obadiah commented: [Who is missing? Rebecca? You never let her come to our reunions anyway.]

Rebecca silently cheered, “Perfect burn!”

Reading her mind, Jenny replied to Obadiah: [Mouthpiece!]

The scandals about Rebecca and Vance had trended twice, the recent one still fresh. Their old classmates all knew, so their comments were far from friendly.

[What’s the point of saying this now?]

[Vance, I never thought you could be so fake!]

[I hope Rebecca never looks back!]

She saw some familiar names-old high-school roommates and boys from her class whose faces she barely remembered.

She didn’t think they were meddling. Instead, she felt touched that so many classmates still remembered her. Given the long period she had closed herself off, they should have forgotten her.

Her phone buzzed with a message.

Jenny: [How are you doing abroad?]

Rebecca: [Everything’s great! Don’t worry about me.]

Jenny: [Good. Let’s meet up when you’re back.]

Rebecca: [Sure.]

Just as she finished chatting with Jenny, another message came in.

Vivian: [Thank you, Rebecca. Wade has started working with Hugo. We wouldn’t be where we are today without you. You’re our lucky star.]

Rebecca: [I guess fate brings us together, and we hit it off, sharing the same values. That’s what changes everything. Besides, Wade deserves it. He has the ability and talent, just needing an opportunity. And don’t forget, I invested in the company. Whatever he earns, I get a share, too.]

Wade was never a rich heir from Arelmoor. He was Vivian’s boyfriend. To keep that fake identity from being exposed, Rebecca had even asked Pascal to help cover for him.

Wade had joined Vance’s company as her eyes and ears. Originally, it was just to deal with Catherine and Vance, but he had discovered that Aiden might be committing embezzlement.

There was no solid evidence, so Rebecca had never tipped her hand.

Later, before his probation period ended, she had told him to quit. There was nothing worth watching at Vance’s failing company.

She had fulfilled her promise to Vivian and set up a new company for Wade with full investment. She hadn’t planned to make it big right away.

Then Gabriel had decided to come to Soliaridge and needed partners. That was when she had revealed the existence of that company.

She had only one requirement for Wade. He must treat Vivian well for the rest of his life and never betray her.

Rebecca hoped this energetic, forward-charging young woman could have a happy ending. Wade swore on it without hesitation.

Making a promise was easy. Many people meant it at the time, but the hard part was keeping that promise for a lifetime. Hopefully, Wade could do it.

Rebecca had wanted Vivian to join too, but she refused, saying a tech company didn’t match her major. She preferred the fashion industry and had her own plans.

Rebecca respected her choice.
