Five Years of Marriage to Mr. Bradford (by Koi Fish) novel Chapter 446

Chapter 446

During her first week of school, Rebecca smoothly integrated with her teachers and classmates.

She was the only student with a mobility issue and had been worried about receiving judgmental looks. But fortunately, no one seemed to focus on her condition.

Maybe some people noticed, but no one mentioned it. Everyone treated her normally, which was perfect.

In her second week, on the morning she returned to campus from Kaitlyn’s house, she saw someone at the school

gate.

He was holding a bouquet of lilies and standing on the path she had to take, smiling so brightly that even the overcast sky seemed to clear up.

“Desmond? What are you doing here?” Rebecca walked up to him, surprised.

“I came to drop Denise off at school and thought I’d visit you.” His smile grew even brighter as he handed her the flowers. “Congratulations on your brand-new beginning.”

She smiled back. For her, this indeed was a new beginning.

“By the way, I live nearby. Want to come over for dinner tonight?” he added, his ears flushing red.

“What school is Denise attending?” she said casually, thinking he was talking about Denise’s place.

“Oh, she has so many interests-dancing, painting, always changing her mind. She applied to an art school. Go to class first. I’ll pick you up tonight. Denise is so excited to know you’re here.”

“Sure!”

Not thinking much of it, she held the flowers and headed to class.

After morning classes, she decided she couldn’t show up empty-handed, so she went to a dessert shop nearby to order a cake. She also ordered a bouquet to pick up in the afternoon.

But it wasn’t Desmond who came to pick her up. It was Denise.

The girl skipped over happily and nearly gave Rebecca a big hug, almost squishing the cake. She caught herself just in time, her eyes sparkling. “Rebecca, I’m so happy you’re here too! Otherwise, I would’ve been so lonely.”

She had been spoiled by her family. Coming abroad alone to study, she probably missed her parents. She was outgoing, which Rebecca had noticed back in Arelmoor.

Denise linked arms with her and started complaining. “But having Desmond around isn’t so good. I’d rather be alone. I don’t want a third wheel when we go shopping together.”

Rebecca was confused. “What do you mean? Is he living here too? I thought he was just dropping you off?”

“He’s not here for me. He has ulterior motives toward you.” Denise shrugged. “To be honest, he came here to attend a language course and plans to apply to your school this year. You should test him thoroughly and not agree so easily.”

Rebecca didn’t know what to say. What surprised her even more was that their house was right next door to hers, separated only by a garden fence.

The apple trees in her yard were already bearing fruit. If he stood on tiptoe, he could reach over and pick apples from her garden.
