Chapter 447
Rebecca stared at him.
Desmond finally sensed something was wrong. His smile faded, and his
eyes darted.
Denise made a face at him and earned a knock on the head. His hands were covered in flour, and some were left on her forehead.
Rebecca watched the siblings tease each other and couldn’t help giggling. The scene reminded her of Emmett. She and her family had never shared such warm moments.
But now, she had a cousin, and he was better than any brother could be.
When Desmond saw her smile, he came over apologetically. “I’m sorry. I didn’t tell you beforehand because…”
He couldn’t quite explain why. Probably afraid she’d be angry.
She brushed it off. “It’s your choice. You don’t need to tell me.”
She simply didn’t want his decision to be because of her. That would put a huge psychological burden on her- suddenly feeling responsible for someone else’s future and life.
“Actually, I’ve been thinking about studying abroad since I graduated,” he explained smoothly. “But my dad disagreed. He wanted me to go home and take over the family business. I don’t like business, so I ran off to Soliaridge to dance. He saw how determined I was, and since Denise was coming here too, he finally gave in.”
His eyes curved into a smile again. “We’re neighbors now. We’ll get each other covered.”
With that denial, what was she supposed to say? She couldn’t just force him to admit it.
She rolled up her sleeves. “Alright. Is there anything I can help with?”
“No need. You guys just wait and eat,” he said, hurrying back to the kitchen.
Denise came over and whispered, “My brother is actually a good cook, even though I hate admitting he has any good qualities.”
Rebecca raised an eyebrow. “Really? Then I’m in for a treat!”
She had assumed a rich kid like Desmond wouldn’t know his way around the kitchen.
Denise nodded vigorously. “Can I draw you? Just a quick sketch. It won’t take long.”
“Sure.” Rebecca stood up. “How should I pose?”
“Just sit naturally. Whatever feels comfortable,” Denise said happily, pulling out her sketchbook.
By the time Desmond finished cooking, Denise had almost finished the drawing. She signed her name and the date before handing it to Rebecca.
Rebecca was surprised. “This is for me? That’s wonderful. Thank you.”
Desmond saw it and grumbled, “I gave you flowers, and you interrogated me. Denise gives you a drawing, and you’re smiling like that.”
Rebecca was speechless. How could he even compare the two things?
Denise hugged Rebecca’s waist and leaned against her shoulder, teasing Desmond. “Of course, it’s different.

You’re a stinky guy. I’m a soft, sweet girl.”
“You little brat. I cooked all this food for nothing. You never take my side,” Desmond complained as he set the
dishes on the table.
Rebecca looked at the main course. “You made this? It’s not takeout?”
“Of course. Look, I even got oil splatters on my face.” He leaned in so she could see the little red spots.
She was about to express some sympathy when Denise pushed his face away. “Come on. The food is getting cold.”
