Rebecca suddenly felt bored. She was perfectly comfortable now, both physically and mentally.
She didn’t need to mock him to feel better. She was just enjoying the drama that had been served to her. In the end, she let him off, sent him the download password, and let him handle the rest himself.
Vance: [Received. Thank you.]
She was about to block him again when he sent a string of question marks.
Rebecca: [What?]
Vance: [There’s nothing here.]
Rebecca: [That’s right. I never said I had evidence.]
He sent a thumbs-up emoji, looking old and wise: [Clever. Feels like I’m only just getting to know you.]
She rolled her eyes. So what? In his heart, had she always been an idiot? And his next message made her even more speechless.
Vance: [You didn’t post on your social media today?]
What did he mean? Why would she post anything?
The next second, he sent her a video-the footage of her sitting in the yard eating apple pie. Beside her, Desmond cut the pie with a knife, placed a slice on her plate, handed her a fork, and looked at her with a smile.
Denise had been filming, so the video only showed the two of them. She had no idea how Vance had gotten the video, but it made her feel like she was being watched.
Vance: [He made that for you? Enviable.]
Envious that Desmond could make dessert for her? That was cheap.
Rebecca: [365*5=1,825. You had at least 1,825 days to make yourself enviable, but you didn’t.]
Vance: [Are you two together now?]
That was none of his business. She didn’t bother replying and blocked him again.
Vance: [Please don’t block me. Even if we’re not married anymore, just knowing you’re doing well would put my mind at ease.]
Only a red exclamation mark appeared on the screen, along with the prompt: [The recipient is not your friend.]
He stared at the chat window and smiled bitterly. But he couldn’t bring himself to close it.
He had been stuck in Rebecca’s blacklist for so long. Even when she occasionally let him out, she

quickly put him back in, just like today. So, their chat history was painfully short.
Yet he read those few sentences over and over, as if he could imagine her expression and gestures. The more he thought about it, the more it felt like she was right in front of him.
Unconsciously, a smile crept onto his face.
The office door was open. Lucas walked in to see his foolish smile, thinking there was good news.
“What’s going on? Do we have a turnaround?” Lucas asked excitedly.
Vance quickly closed the chat window and cleared his throat. “No.”
But Lucas had already seen the screen, realizing Vance was chatting with Rebecca. He was genuinely happy for Vance. “Rebecca finally unblocked you? She still has me blocked.”
That comment made Vance feel deflated once again.
“No,” he replied darkly. “Get back to work. If we don’t work harder, the two of us will end up handing out flyers on the street soon.”
