Five Years of Marriage to Mr. Bradford (by Koi Fish) novel Chapter 450

Chapter 450

Lucas left with a gloomy face, ready to return to his own office.

The front desk called Vance on the internal line. “Sir, a lawyer claiming to represent Miss Catherine Welch is requesting to meet you.”

Lucas was furious. What the hell? Did they still expect Vance to pay her bail?

He had come to terms with being betrayed by his best friends. Once he accepted it, his love had turned into hatred-stronger than if anyone else had betrayed the company.

Now he hated Aiden and Catherine to the core.

Vance thought for a moment and replied, “Send him up.”

Lucas objected. “What? Are you serious?” 3

Vance nodded. “Let’s hear what he has to say.”

Lucas decided to stay, and Vance raised an eyebrow.

“Why are you still here?”

“I’m afraid you’ll do something stupid.”

“How could I? Haven’t I already paid enough for my stupidity?”

Lucas remained unconvinced and stayed right beside him.

The lawyer soon arrived. He walked in, shook hands with Vance, and greeted him. “Mr. Bradford, hello.”

Then he noticed Lucas standing behind Vance and paused, unsure whether to speak in front of a third

party.

“Go ahead,” Lucas spoke up. “He isn’t the only one who makes decisions here. Tell Catherine that Lucas Lewis said so. This matter is my business now.”

He was usually slow, but years in business had sharpened his ability to read situations.

The lawyer realized who the man was. Catherine had told him that if Vance refused to help, he should go to a vice president named Lucas Lewis-someone who was easier to talk to.

The lawyer quickly greeted him. “Mr. Lewis, hello.”

“Get straight to the point,” Lucas said impatiently.

The lawyer began, “I am Catherine Welch’s defense attorney. I will do everything in my power to help her.

You can rest assured.”

“What? Then we can’t rest assured!” Lucas exclaimed.

The lawyer was confused. To prove his point, he quickly added, “Miss Welch is pregnant. I can help reduce her sentence.”

“You can say those things to your client. Why come to us?” Lucas interrupted.

“Well, I need to contact her family, but she says she has no family in Soliaridge,” the lawyer explained. ” You two are the people closest to her, so…”

“So, you want us to pay her legal fees?” Lucas cut in again.

Talking about money so directly felt a little awkward, but that was indeed the lawyer’s purpose.

He explained, “Because she is in custody and can’t access her accounts, she would like you to act as her representative.”
