Five Years of Marriage to Mr. Bradford (by Koi Fish) novel Chapter 456

Chapter 456

“Sit down. I’ll take care of it.” Desmond quickly caught her, helping her to the sofa.

Rebecca waved her hand. “I’m fine. I’m perfectly fine, really…”

“Okay, you’re fine. I’ll clean up,” he said, humoring her.

But when he finished loading the dishwasher and came back out, she had already fallen asleep on the sofa.

Worried she would be uncomfortable sleeping there, he gently called out, “Rebecca, hey. Would you like to sleep in bed?”

She was unresponsive, her eyes tightly shut. He sighed, lifted her into his arms, and carried her to the bedroom.

She really was drunk, her cheeks rosy. When he leaned down to lay her on the bed, her warm breath brushed against his ear.

He tensed up, staring at her flushed cheeks and lips that looked like they had been stained with rose juice. For a moment, he didn’t want to get up.

Rather, he wanted to lean down just a little more, until he could touch her lips. Even just a light touch would be enough.

But then, he caught himself. That would be disrespectful to her.

Sanity returned, and he quickly left the bedroom, planning to go straight home. Then he realized that she was drunk and might need care if she felt unwell later.

So, he came back.

With all this excess energy and the alcohol still burning in his blood, he decided to clean the house.

And so, on that winter night, while Rebecca slept soundly in her room, Desmond cleaned every inch of her house, even the hidden corners, until he was exhausted.

Only then did he lie down in the living room and fall asleep. 1

The next morning, Rebecca woke up, and her eyes met Desmond’s as he lay in the living room. 2

He panicked. “You got drunk last night. I was worried you might feel sick, so I stayed. I-I saw your house was a bit messy, so I cleaned up a little. After I finished, I was so tired I fell asleep here. I was afraid you might catch a cold, so I carried you to bed. I didn’t do anything inappropriate. I’m sorry for being presumptuous.”

He explained things in a hurry. The more he talked, the redder his ears became. 1

“Would you like some breakfast? I’m planning to fry a couple of sausages and make scrambled eggs.” Rebecca interrupted his stream of excuses as if she hadn’t heard any of them.

He froze for a second, then his eyes lit up. He nodded vigorously. “Yes! What else do you want to eat? I’ll make it right now.”

He dashed into the kitchen, and soon the clatter of kitchenware came out. She shook her head, realizing he had taken one more step forward.
